One: First surprize

It’s been six years after saying goodbye… Not literally, we’ve only talked over the phone. Six long years and it’s killing me inside. We haven’t talk since She left, I didn’t even know if she had someone with her already.

Yes Skylar and Maggie talked a lot every night but when I took the phone and started begging her to say hello, I could hear her cry on the other line then hung up a second after that. Yesterday was the last day of my college years, probably hers too. I’m already twenty two and so she was.

I could still remember how she said I love you back when we were sixteen, How she kissed my lips on the night after the dance or how we used to be so close together. How we used to talk every day or how we used to be together. But I guess I’m just left with used to be-s.

Skylar was now eleven years old, A cell phone addict, a hippie, a cheerful and energetic girl and she’s very sweet. She reminds me of Megan all the time, well… She talks like Megan too.

She was out today with her friends, it was already summer, but to me, it was always December, Everything was cold and blue and dark. Since Megan left, I have no reasons to be happy anymore.

Yes, I dated some girls but they were never good enough, I always end up screwing the relationship causing them to leave me. But I don’t mind, In my heart There will always be Megan… It will Always be the name Maggie that my heart always yearns for.

“Steve- Come here in a sec.” Mom called out. She’ll probably let me cook again, I was a chef now. I never took engineering or architecture. I don’t know why but I just didn’t took that course.

“I’ll be there mom, a sec!” I called out. I took a glimpsed at the clock it was seven am, I have to find a job soon. I have to help my mom and my dad.

I got down and saw Matt sitting at the couch, he was having a wide grin on his face. Something was probably up.

“Hey dude!” I said.

“Hey! Where’s Skylar?” He asked, Martha was probably  looking for her.

“at the park with her friends?” I said.

“Well, Not anymore, Martha took her to the mall.” Matt said, laughing. I don’t know what’s so funny to what he has said but I did laugh as well.

Going through the kitchen and started cooking some breakfast. Mom was so happy for me, She’s also a chef- Pastry chef to be exact. I smiled at her and gave her a morning kiss on her forehead.

Megan’s P.O.V

I finally graduated! Ohmigod… As I receive my diploma, a tear escaped my eye, It wasn’t the so called ‘tears-of-joy’ It was a sad tears. I still remember how Steven and I spend every single moment together. I can’t help but imagine that he was here with me but no- I don’t even know if mom wanted to go back since she haven’t talk about it again.

I know Steven wasn’t doing fine, Skylar told me all about him since she reached her growing up years. She started having a phone when she was nine- Talk about new generation. Hell, I didn’t even have a phone when I was eleven.

Mom and I drove back home to our same old cute apartment. After she cut the engine, She run upstairs leaving me and Maya on the front door.

Maya was my best friend, The only girl best friend I have here in London.

“So, What are your plans?” She asked.

“Don’t know. Get a job?” I said coldly.

“You know Meg, You should get your head out of Steven first. You’ve been so depressed since I met you.” She said.

“Because this isn’t actually the way I planned. I was planning that to have college with him. Spend every summer and spring break with him but No- I was away from him.” I said.

“Just think positive. You’ll be together again soon.” She smiled and started walking back to her house.

I opened the front door and saw mom handling some plane tickets, One for me and one for her. She had this creepy smile on her face. I bet this one’s positive.

“Mom. What’s up?” I smiled.

“We’re going back to California!” She squealed

“O-M-G mom! Are you effin’ serious?” I jumped giving her a bear hug. Oh my god! I’m about to see Steven again! I better tell Skylar about this. But, She’ll better be sure to keep it from Steven.

“Go pack up now, we’re leaving tomorrow.” Mom said.

“When are we coming back here?” I asked.

“We’ll be living there again, not coming back here anymore.” Mom said.

“what about dad?” I asked.

“He called me last two months, apologizing until yeah, I gave in. I still love him.” Mom said.

“Sure you do mom. Thanks!” I said, running to my room and locking the door behind me.

Grabbing my phone out of my purse, Oh god… I’m still on my toga. I better change first.

But no… I’ll call Sky first. Her phone rang and suddenly she answered.

“Hey Cousin Meg!” She squealed.

“I have news! Wait- Is Steven there?” I asked, panicking.

“No- No… I’m with Martha at the mall.” She said.

“Good! But don’t spill it out huh.” I said.

“Sure, just skip the part come on, say the good news!” She said stubbornly.

“We’re going back! Tomorrow!” I said.

She screamed so loud that I have to put my phone away from my ears. I felt like my eardrums had just popped out. Uhg! When does this girl been so loud.

“Oh my god! Cousin Steven must know!” She said excitedly.

“Oh, no! I wanna surprize him tomorrow. We’ll be there at 9 am be sure to meet me in the mall food court at ten am. Don’t tell anyone. We’re coming there as a surprize.” I ordered.

“Yeah sure!” She said and then she hung up.

I started packing my clothes and my things, I can’t believe we’re going back home again. I’m going to see Steven again but what if he don’t recognize me anymore. I’ve changed… Not from the inside but from the outside.

My eyes got bluer than ever, I got slimmer, my body got curvier and yeah I dyed my hair brown. I got paler, yes but I’m still me. Oh and yeah, I cut my hair in layered style since I was planning for a new change. I hope he’ll still recognize me.
