I was still seated on the couch after half an hour. I was happy to be alone. My decisions couldn't be trusted when he was near. And I hated it. I never wished to become one of those swooning mates that couldn't even finish a thought with their mate there.

I leaned back further into the couch, which was decorated with blue pillows, and I sighed. My toes wriggled and thoughts of running away speeded through my head. But the plan was stupid and I shouldn't run away from my mate before even knowing if my friends could stay or not. But I wasn't going to sleep either. Now that I actually had the chance and the bed, all exhaustion had left my body. I was restless, but I didn't know what to do. My feet hopped quickly down on the floor after I got an idea and stood up.

Standing in front of the door for a moment, I listened for any noise coming from behind the door, but the hallway was silent. I snug outside and down the hall, quickly moving through a doorway to another room. As soon as my whole body had entered the room, I slammed the door shut behind me, in the most silent matter possible. The lovely smell hit me like a punch, and I leaned against the door for a while, before walking further into his bedroom.

It was simple but nice. White walls, big bed and personal belongings scattered across the walls and the desk. Though his office was so formal, this place looked like an ordinary young guy's bedroom. The bed wasn't made and a couple of pieces of clothes laid on the floor. For some stupid reason, that calmed me. Seeing that the Alpha had a messy bed and a dusty desk calmed me. But maybe it wasn't because he was just a normal guy, after all, maybe he just didn't let anyone into his room. I sighed at myself; I always found a way to assume the worst, no matter what.

I walked around the room. My eyes trailed across every single furniture and decoration. I wasn't even sure why I was there. I wasn't searching for anything special. Just something. But there wasn't anything here that didn't hint he was just a normal man in his early twenties.

I gave up and exited the room. I was left with nothing to do but go back to the guest room, but sleeping would be such a waste of my free time alone. My hand grabbed the door handle of a random door, and I shook it twice. Locked. Going through three more doors, I was unsuccessful till the fourth door. I slid it open slowly, pushing my head in between the door frame and the door.

"What are you doing?" I jumped at the sudden voice, clicking the door shut and turning around within a second. A tall woman stood before me, her arms crossed and eyebrows raised. Authority swirled around her. She was without a doubt powerful.

"Cat got your tongue?" A smirk spread across her lips.

"I'm just looking around." I stepped away from the door, giving her my best innocent look.

"Do you mind if I ask you who you are?" I asked. My best guess would be Beta.

"Dakota Eaton, Beta of Red Crow Hunters." Her hand firmly shook mine. I offered her a polite smile. It felt unfamiliar. I didn't know where my power lied at this place.

When a purely attractive scent hit my nostrils, I knew who was coming immediately. With a sigh, my eyes went to the corner, just as Caden rounded it.

"You weren't tired, I assume?" His deep voice sent shivers down my spine, but I fought to stay still.

"Uhm, I just wanted to see where I was," I explained. My eyes didn't meet his, but I didn't feel guilty.

"Right," he stated, nodding his head. I didn't know if his eyes held suspicion or amusement. Our eyes met each other for a while.

"This is gonna be fun," Dakota said, breaking the eye contact. A sarcastic smile had formed on her face. Caden chuckled at her, and I watched as his hand went to her shoulder. Foreign feelings rose up and made my throat itch.
