Chapter 8

Jakes POV
I walked back and forth in my office deep in thought. I couldn't believe what I just did. I gave her away to someone else and not only someone else but her mate and of all people the moon goddess had to give her Elliot who didn't know anything about her and how dangerous she was if not for the aconitum(wolfsbane) that is usually give to her then she wouldn't be this tame. I had to look for a way to get her back to this pack without causing a fight with Elliot. It was bad enough that we couldn't tolerate each other but I didn't want to do anything rash that would lead to an inter-pack conflict after all he is my cousin. I kept on thinking of what to do suddenly a great idea came to my mind and I smiled to myself even though I wasn't sure it will work. I sat on my desk deep in thought. My 18th birthday was getting really close. Some people would say that I'm too young to be an Alpha but since my dad died when I was 16 and I was the only child of my patents  I had no other option than to take up the position and I loved it. This Saturday was going to be f***ed since everyone was expecting me to find my mate. I decided to start sending everyone the invitation. After I was done with that I had nothing else to do so I let my mind wonder off.
I remembered last week when I was usually out of the house late at night drinking and coming home to meet Mia all the time. Somepeople never remembered anything when they become sober but I always did and I couldnt help but smile when Mia had come up to me asking different questions but I was really surprised that I answered but at that time I felt as if I could tell her anything and on a normal basis I didn't have anyone to talk to since my mother wasn't living in the pack house anymore. She had been living as a regular human after my dad died.
So I was basically always alone. Mia didnt have a clue of what she really was but I could tell that she was a good and kind hearted person but what had to be done had to done. I was very grateful that she helped me out if my drinking situation. I suddenly thought of a different ideas I could use. Instead of making her come back here for good I could just invite her and Elliot to the party so the aconitum can be given to her then. I smiled to my self for being such a genius. Yes, I was a really proud person but that's one of the many things that makes me a great Alpha.

Adrian and Lucas suddenly entered my office disturbing my thoughts. Those two were like brothers to me. We had been friends since we were young and we still are that's why I chose Adrian as my Beta since he was stronger and more responsible than Lucas and Lucas is my Delta. Some people would say its because of our friendship that's why I chose them but its actually because they are the two strongest and most responsible people in the pack besides me that is.

"Hey man" Lucas said,sitting in one of the couches in my office with Adrian beside him." What's up?"

"Nothing much." I said standing from my table to the mini fridge to get some drinks for us.

"So Jake I was thinking about that mate issue of yours...."
Ohhh no. If anyone brings up this matter its always has to be Adrian .
"And I suddenly thought of something." I glared at Adrian
"And what will that be?"

"What if your mate was Kate?"
I looked at him as I handed both him and Lucas rootbeers while Lucas started laughing.
I smacked his head with my hand and he just smirked.

"Why would my mate be kate?" I questioned. Kate was not a bad person but the only thing wrong with her was that she was a slut though I had also slept with her once or twice but I couldn't imagine her being my mate.

"It was just a thought." said Lucas. I pretended to think about it.
"Well she is good in bed but she won't be a good Luna plus she might still be going from bed to bed even with the mate pull." We all laughed and started talking about random things. Then as usual Lucas started goofing around. He started acting out what he thought my expression will be when I find my mate. It was actually really funny and I couldn't help the way I laughed.

Adrian and Lucas were family. They had a special spot in my heart. They made everything fun and also made life worth living even in the worst situations.

I don't even think my unknown mate can have a spot as big as theirs in my heart.
