Ponyboy's POV:

Before I knew it, it was the end of the school week. The day went by quite fast, math class almost concluded. However, I think I passed the time by sneaking a few stares at Quinn, admiring how pretty she is, since she really is such a gorgeous human being, but she never returned the looks.

Seriously, this "ignoring me during school" was way more serious than I anticipated it to be.

Once math class came to an end, I walked over to my locker to go put my books in my book bag, but of course, a stupid soc "accidentally" bumped into me, causing the books that were in my arm to fall out.

"Idiot..." I muttered under my breath, not hesitating to roll my eyes.

"Did you say something, greaser?" The soc spat, turning on his heels.

"Yeah, I did. I said you're a stupid, dense, thick-skulled, moronic idiot because ya are one. Does the truth hurt or somethin'?" I defended, my jaw clenching.

He forcefully shoved me against the lockers, catching everyone's attention and causing me to wince.

I studied the Soc's face closely, realizing I was making eye-contact with the same guy who almost used his blade on me.

He brought his fist in the air, about to punch me.

"You know, if you just say that you regret calling me all that non-sense, I'll stop this right here, right now." He said.

Right when he said that, Quinn walked by with the same typical smile she kept on her cherry-colored lips. Once she caught a glimpse of what was occurring, she stopped right in her tracks as her smile fell from her lips, her full attention focused on us.

Unfortunately she consumed my own attention for too long, in which the soc realized I wasn't staring at him anymore. He then couldn't help but turn around and noticed Quinn.

"Oh, hey there, Quinn! Are you going to defend this guy just like you did that night at the drive-in?" He said loudly for everyone to hear, causing everyone to whisper and mutter amongst themselves.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about..." She choked out, looking at the ground as she rubbed her arm sheepishly, realizing her own chivalrous actions had unfortunate consequences.

My eyes couldn't help but go slightly wide, in which I couldn't help but endure the terrible feeling of betrayal as she was pretending that she didn't defend me at the drive-in.

"Don't lie, Quinn." He said through gritted teeth as he punched the locker in angst, causing me and everyone else to jump.

"I-I'm not. Why would I even associate with a greaser like him?" She looked back up as she gave him her quiet response, furrowing her eyebrows as she crossed arms, trying her best to defend herself.

I quietly scoffed, shaking my head after hearing those words, in which they seriously stung.

"What's the point of lying, Quinn. Huh? You defended him at the drive-in. You can't hide from this." He laughed in disbelief.
