"Minnie, I'd like you to meet the other members of seventeen. Well most of them anyway. Guys where's Woozi, S. Coups and Jeonghan?"
"Woozi is still at the booth working, S. Coups is grocery shopping and Jeonghan is getting his hair looked after. Although Coupsie and Jeongie are probably together somewhere. I'm mingyu by the way" this abnormally tall guy stands up and greets, smirking slightly at a hidden message with in his words.
"Mingyu, stop being such a fangirl. We all know you're just jealous of their friendship" another guy jokes. He has fluffy hair with a sharp nose and is about four or five cm shorter than the tall guy, Mingyu.
Then another boy stands up. "That one there who oh so cleverly, note the sarcasm, forgot to introduce himself is Wonwoo." He says, pointing to the guys that just spoke. "I'm Seungkwan the main vocalist."
"One of" DK interrupts with a teasing smile.
"May I continue sir?" Seungkwan asks, bowing in mock seriousness. But not waiting for a reply, he goes ahead anyway "As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted," as he makes a point to blatantly stare at DK, "I'm also part of the gag trio and am quite often a happy virus although that title officially belongs to DK the douche over there" he jokes at the end whilst DK pretends to be offended. I shall remember Seungkwan by his moon like face.
"Moving on, I'm Hoshi. Also one third of the gag trio. You've already met the last musketeer, the lovable DK over there. I'm head of the performance unit of seventeen and create most of the choreography. Some say I'm talented" he explains, joking with a wink thrown in. I shall remember Hoshi meanwhile by his 10:10 eyes.
And so the introductions go on until there's no one left to meet. Although it seems like a long time, it only lasts about ten minutes. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about my starter going cold since I ate it already.
Joshua decides to round it off though, firmly sending them on their way with a, "So, in conclusion, these idiots are nine of the members of seventeen with three more that you have the met. DK, Hoshi, Mingyu, The8, Jun, Vernon, Seungkwan, Dino and Wonwoo. Guys, we really must get going as I'm starving. See you at practice tomorrow."
"I guess that's us being told to get out to give the couple some alone time" Hoshi jokes, earning a gentle smack round the head from Joshua.
As they all slowly trail out, I notice DK hanging near the back of the group so I head over to say goodbye. "Hey, DK, it was really nice meeting you."
"Here," he says, pressing a scrappy piece of paper into my hands. I unfold it quickly, inspecting the scribbled mass of numbers to figure out that it is in fact his number. Before I can say anything, he mutters, "call me anytime. I'll reply as soon as I can."
With a grin, I reply, "You know, I have a good feeling about you. You seem kind. I'll see you round DK."It's only at the end of our conversation that I see the others behind us watching, no doubt waiting to tease him later. The look on Joshua's face also indicates that it's going to be an imminent topic of conversation.
"Bye guys" I wave to the others as the finally leave whilst we head back to our table. "You and I have some things to discuss by the looks of it young lady. I see you've been getting friendly with one of my band mates" he states in mock seriousness soon ruined by the " but first I need to order some food. I'm starving" as he dramatically flopping into his chair.
"Omg, I've missed you so much Joshie, like crazy. You couldn't imagine it. FaceTime is just not the same" I say in my best dumb American accent. Note to self - don't actively promote the American stereotype, it sounds kinda dumb. What can I say, the adrenaline is getting to me.
After ordering, we chat about what we've been doing for the past two years. He wants to know what's happening at home and all the classic stuff like how my love life is going - not so great being the answer - as well as how all of our other close friends were doing, especially Aria. She's one year younger than me so three years younger than Joshua but we were all close since our parents were very good friends. She's Irish and moved to LA when she was younger but still has that Irish accent which can be quite funny. The three of us were a gang and stuck together so it affected us both when Joshua left. She's incredibly jealous about me coming to Korea particularly since she is a huge kpop fanatic. Especially over EXO. And BTS. All I have to say is Chanyeol and Jungkook. She desperately wants to meet them and will explode if I do. She's made me promise to FaceTime her for regular updates on kpop sightings although it won't be the same as actually being here for her.
However I'm so glad to be here. With Joshua. Talking face to face. In our dream city. We chat and laugh, enjoying the moments between us.
At the end of the delicious meal, Joshua announces that he'll walk me back to the hotel, being ever the gentleman. He said that his dorm was near here so he didn't have to walk a great distance once he dropped me off.
After a five minute walk, we reach my hotel. "Joshie, I never knew you had such good taste. Thank you for taking me out tonight. I'm so glad I'm here with you. It just hasn't been the same back in LA since you left. I've missed you so badly." I say sadly, hanging onto him tightly.
He returns the hug, gently stroking my hair. "I know Minnie, it just hasn't been the same but you're here now and that's what matters. We just have to enjoy the time we have together, how long are you staying for?
"Six months minimum, maybe longer. It just depends on what's happening. I'm staying in the hotel for another week whilst I find my way around the city, job hunt and search for a place to live. When will I see you next?"
"Maybe tomorrow or the day after, it depends how busy my schedule is and how practice goes but I will definitely text you. I've gotta go now" he says with regret in his voice as his phone beeps.
"Bye Minnie" he says squeezing me tight one more time before letting me go.
"Bye Josh" I whisper as I watch his retreating figure before heading inside the hotel, a vague sense of de ja vu. (If that's how you spell it)
