'Dear Minnie, my jagiya,
There are so many things I have to say with so little time so let's start with the simplest things first.Quite simply, I love you. You have been my world for the past God knows how many months. No matter what happens, I want you to know that. You've been my sunshine and motivation for the past nine months, giving me something to look forward to and work for because I knew that you'd be there for me when I got home'
I begin to sob, the tears silently streaking down my face at his heartfelt words.
'We're still young, both only 19, with our whole lives ahead of us. We shouldn't have to be bound by words and vows, too young for all of that yet. However, I know that you're special to me and I wouldn't be able to live without you. Survive but not live.
This is why I have left something for you on your desk. You don't have to accept but I want you to know that no matter what happens, you'll always have a place with me. Whatever may separate us, although I hope that nothing does, will never have any permanent effect. It's never been more important to me than now with me being half way across the world and you in danger.'
I can feel the tears dripping off of my chin as I'm trying to figure out what he's thinking, why he took his ring off of me.
'I want you to be mine. I don't care what happens when I'm away, whether you go back to America or choose to stay in Seoul, just as long as you know that one day I intend to claim you. Whether they be in six months or six years, I will and nothing will stop me. Now this is where my present comes in.
As I write this, I'm not sure whether or not I will have taken back my ring - the one I gave you to show everyone you were mine - but know that was only because I intended to replace it with another one. Not an engagement ring, you should know that I'd never be such a whimp as to not propose in person, but instead a promise ring.
You can choose whether or not accept but know that it means I will promise to come back for you no matter what has happened. If you would accept, know that I will keep this promise. If you don't, then know I will still keep this promise. Basically, no matter what you choose, my love for you will not die.
With love,
Lee Seokmin'My hand automatically covers my mouth in an attempt to disguise the emotions rushing through me from his words. I can't believe I didn't notice the ring he left on my desk, too busy to check my room thoroughly, it's impressive I even managed to find the letter in the first place.
No wonder he looked so crushed when I said that I hadn't read the letter. He wanted an answer that I couldn't give, got his hopes up by rushing to the airport just to see him only to completely burn them to the ground. I'm so stupid. How didn't I notice it?
And yet, somehow, I'm smiling. He truly means what he said and doesn't see that anything will tear us apart, in the long term at least. I'm the one that he wants. Forever - or at least forever, for now.
"Yo, wassup, here's your- woah, Minnie, what's wrong?" Aria says as she flings open the door, concern laced through her voice when she notices my face. She leans over the seat, placing the cups in the cup holder before shutting the door behind her as she clambers into the seat beside me. She tugs me closer, wrapping her arms around my shoulder as I press my face in it hers, clutching onto her back.
"I'm so stupid. I should've read this first" I mumble after she grabs the letter from my lap.
She breaks away, opening it up as she begins to read whilst I turn away, switching on the engine so we can get home for me to find what I need. I pull away swiftly, willing the drive to go quickly. This time I don't break any speed limits, trying to be calm as I think what awaits me.
