~Drew's POV~
It was Friday. I hadn't talked to Keda since that phone call. I was walking through the halls of my school, about to leave because the final bell had rung. I was kind of freaking out because I had no idea where I would take Keda on our date tomorrow. It was, in fact, a date. I'm going to make sure she knows it. I just want it to be a good date. That kind of sucked since I didn't have any plans for us.
I was thinking about several places to go to, when I heard someone say my name.
"Drew?" said Hailey's soft, girly voice. Hailey was the hottest, most popular girl at school. I turned around to see her standing right in front of me. Her big brown eyes were staring up at me. She had light brown hair and her clothes showed a lot of skin.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey," she smiled at me. "So, I'm having a party tomorrow night," she began, I then noticed she was, um, feeling my arms. "I was hoping you could come."
She was feeling my muscles and talking slowly...it was distracting. I would've said yes, but then I came back to reality. "Can't, I'm going on a date," I told her.
She pouted. "I heard about that. Claire told me that Joe told her that Liz told him that Jobin told her about the girl you were at the bowling alley with. Does she go to our school?"
"She's a girl I met over the weekend. She's really cool," I said.
She took her hand away from me. "Really? You're going to spend your saturday with some girl you hardly know rather than go to my party?" she looked at me as if I had just told her I was going to spend my weekend watching grass die.
"Yeah," is all I said.
"You're so hot,'' she said.
''I know. Sorry I can't go to your party. See you around,'' and with that, I turned and walked out the front doors.
I opened my front door and went inside my house. ''Anyone home?''
''In here, hun!'' my mom called from the kitchen.
I walked into the kitchen and gave her a hug. ''Hey mom.''
''How was school?'' she asked, like she did every day. Like pretty much every parent did every day.
''Painful,'' I answered. ''I'm gonna go to Eric's house,'' I said.
''Okay, but you have to eat first,'' she said.
''Will do.'' So I shoved down 3 eggrolls and an apple and went to the door. ''Bye mom!'' I called, closing the door before I heard her answer.
I walked into Eric's house without knocking. ''I'm home!'' I yelled, closing the door.
''Come up here, you little bitch!'' Eric yelled back from upstairs in his bedroom. I climbed up the stairs and went into his room. It was a large room, the walls were painted a dark blue. He had a huge T.V. right in front of the door, so you get a perfect view from his bed on the far side of the room. He paused his game and glanced up at me. ''I am offended,'' he announced.
''Are you?'' I asked, picking up a second controller from his bookshelf, that held more sports trophies and medals than actual books. Then sat beside him on his bed.
''Yes. Yes I am. I thought we were friends, you know? Best friends. But, no, of course not because a true best friend would tell his best friend that he met a girl!'' he shouted, snatching the controller out of my hands, and pushing me down so I was laying on his bed now.
I laughed as I sat back up. ''I was going to tell you, but you missed school all week. What was I supposed to do?'' I asked.
''Internet. Text messaging. Welcome to the twenty-first century, Drew. We've been waiting patiently for your arrival,'' he said.
''Ugh. Can we just play?'' I asked.
''No. Tell me about her. Is she hot?'' he asked.
''Yeah, plus she's really cool and you know, not dumb,'' I said.
''I see...I see...does she have any hot friends?'' he asked.
I laughed. ''Probably. Want me to hook you up?'' I asked him, already knowing the answer.
''Hell yeah. Show me a picture of her so I know you're not lying. A girl on this planet that is both attractive and somewhat intelligent? Now this I gotta see,'' he said. Eric had dated a lot of girls in the past, but they were all stupid or unloyal or both. I told myself to ask Keda about any single friends for Eric.
You see, Eric was the type of guy that always fell for the wrong girl. He was a great boyfriend, really nice, he'd always get his girlfriend little presents for no reason, and he always made them feel special. But they always ended up breaking his heart, after they'd used & manipulated him thoroughly. I figured that he should end up with a nice girl, because he deserves it.
I pulled out my phone, went on the Facebook app, and searched up 'Keda.' I figured there weren't too many facebook accounts with the name Keda. Sure enough, I was right. I recognised her face right away and I tapped on her profile picture. She was beautiful. She had her hair down and her blue eyes looked right at me. She had this shy smile and I - I'm rambling. I handed him my phone.
''Daaaaaaaaaamn she is hot!'' he said.
I grinned. ''So we can play now?'' I asked.
''We can play now,'' he replied.
It felt a little weird talking to Eric about Keda. It felt sort of wrong. Eric was my best friend, but Keda was like my secret. She was my mystery and I wanted to be the only one that knew about her. That must sound pretty weird, but that's just how I feel. She's really amazing and I'm a little worried because it feels like she could easily find another guy and be happy with him.
That's when I came up with the perfect idea for our date.
