Hey everybody this is my senior project and I'd love to know what you think! Thats all the play starts on the next sentance!

Act 1 Scene 1

Enter David with hands in his pockets, kicking an empty can.

David-(muttering) stupid, good for nothing-

Enter Robin, smiling to herself and carrying a stack of books. David doesn’t notice her and kicks the can at her, making her drop her books.

David-Darn it, (stoops to pick up books) I’m sorry.

Robin-Oh, it’s okay, they’re just books.

David-(stacking the books in a small pile) Yeah, but I shouldn’t be taking my bad mood out on you or your books. (Finally looks up, hands Robin the books) Have I seen you around before?

Robin-(standing and smiling still) probably not, I just moved here on Saturday. (Holds out hand)I’m Robin McGinty.

David-(takes it and shakes) David Morrison, you gonna go to school here too?

Robin-Yes, I start on Monday.

David-Cool, who’s homeroom do you have?

Robin-(opens book on top of stack and checks a paper) Umm, Gestrick?

David- Cool once again, I guess we’ll have homeroom together too.

Robin-That’s nice, I guess I’ll have someone I know at least.

David-Yeah it is, want me to walk you home?

Robin-What for?

David-There are actually several tin can kicking lunatics on the streets these days, it just isn’t safe.

Robin- Why do I feel like you ulterior motives?

David-Probably because I do, I really don’t want to go home yet and am in dire need of distraction.

Robin-Oh, well then I guess you’re right, I would be honored for you to be my guardian against the psychotic can kickers.

David-Great, so where do you live?

Robin-Over on West and Main.

David-(smile fades) Oh.

Robin-(her own smile fading) is something wrong?

David-No, no, it’s nothing, I just live on the same street, kinda weird huh?

Robin-Yeah, kinda. (Silent for a moment) So what were you upset about before, when you were kicking in the can, I know it’s really none of my business but-

David-No, it’s alright, it’s supposed to help if you talk about it right? Well, I just got into an argument with my Mom and Dad about something.

Robin-You care if I ask what?

David-(shakes his head) No, we were actually arguing about me, they’re worried about how my grades have started flip-flopping in class.

Robin-Do they have reason to be worried?

David-I don’t know, to tell you the truth, I don’t know.
