Lavender pink
Was the color of my cheeks
As we sat at the coffee shop,
Talking about high school and childhood memories
And I noticed how you were staring at me from across
The table.
Light, faded blue
Was the color of the dress I wore
As we walked around the shops and stores
And you grabbed my hand for the first time
With nervous fingers,
And that day I felt as if I could
Float above the clouds.
Dark, crimson red
Was the color of my lips
As we kissed on the patio
While fireworks danced in the sky
And I found that
As I looked into your brown eyes
That I had everything
That I could ask for.
Faded, slick black
Was the color of my mascara
Running down my cheeks
As your shouts echoed
Throughout the lonely house.
Clear, silky white
Was the color of the sheets
As we cuddled and laughed,
The television faded into the background of our voices,
Me falling into a soundless slumber
In your arms.
Dark, velvet blue
Was the color of the box
As you kneeled down
By the clear blue waves and the rough, dry sand
And asked me if I would
Forever be yours.
Bright, glowing emerald
Was the color of the trees
As I walked to you
In my wedding dress,
Clutching onto the handful of flowers
As my father let me go
And I wrapped my arm around you,
Taking in the beautiful scenery
Of our wedding.
Light, golden yellow
Was the color of our daughters curls
As she ran around the house in her diaper, giggling
Once you swooped her into your arms
And carried her over your shoulder
And twirled her around,
Laughing and grinning
Once you sat her down to the ground.
These were the colors of us.
