I know I have always believed in ghosts.
They are the spirits roaming the abandoned halls,
they are the laughter that echoes
within my bones-
they are the souls that are still trying to cling onto the life they had before-
and I had always thought that,
maybe,
it's not the ghosts haunting the house.
It's us.
We are the memories that they try
so hard to grasp
in their shaking hands,
we are the hope that they are
searching for
in their empty,
broken world.
We watch them bring buried
Underneath the earth,
and soon their memory fades
into our minds-
but for them,
they watch us breathing, living,
venturing out into this world
without them
every single
Day.
I guess we are the ones
roaming the halls
inside of their minds,
we are the ghosts
echoing within their bones-
it has always been us
all along.___________________________
Hello! The picture is my inspiration for this poem- I love Halsey's album, Badlands. I know I keep saying that I will keep trying to post more often, but to be honest, sometimes poetry hits me out of the blue and I get so many ideas, and then the next day I have nothing to write. (Haha) well, hope you enjoyed this poem!Question:
What would be one thing you would change about society (in general)
Answer: society's expectations of beauty. What gives us a right to make so many little girls and boys miserable, just because their bodies don't match the impossible standards that we are pressured them to be? In magazines, in social media, even on big posters and billboards plastered all across the world- this is what they have to be. Fake. Skinny. Beautiful. Is this really beautiful?
