I groan inwardly as I scan my options. I have to have an answer in an HOUR about which school I'm going to attend.
It's 11:00 at night. The Madrigals have a hug performance tomorrow, an we were supposed to go to sleep early - our bus leaves at 4. Yet I'm still up deciding on a college.
Ultimately, I decide to call Cassidy. She's in the car, coming home from a tournament in Maine.
She picks up in the third ring.
"Jess!" She exclaims. "What are you doing up this late?!"
I sigh. "Deciding on colleges. What do you think I should do?"
The line goes silent, and I know Cassidy's thinking.
" Well, Jess, what do you want to do in life?"
I frown. "Hmm.... Never thought of that..." I love science and math, but I don't think that's the road I want to take. Animals are great, and doing more with animals, like I did with Lydia, would be fun. But I also really, really, love to sing.
" I guess a performer or a wildlife rehabilitater." I reply, still unsure.
"Great! Just focus mainly on one, and do another on the side. You just have to decide which you want to focus mainly on."
I smile. "Thanks, Cassidy!"
"No prob, dude." She says amiably and hangs up.
I take a deep breath, and turn on my laptop. 6 websites for 6 different schools pop up. I scan my options once more, and take a deep breath.
The Madrigals are about to go on stage. I flatten my skirt nervously, and tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"You look fine, Jess." Savannah tells me with an eye roll. I flash her a quick smile. Suddenly, my phone chimes. I pull it out, expecting a good luck text from mom or something, but to my surprise, it's an email. I open it.
Dear Jessica Delaney,
Congratulations! You have been accepted into the Juilliard School of arts! You will move in on August 31, and the term starts September 8. We look forward to having you at our school!"Congrats, Jess!!" Savannah, who had been reading over my shoulder, cried out. "Maybe we can room together!"
Savannah had gotten her acceptance letter months ago. She was aiming for Harvard Law, but she said the Juilliard was her second choice anyways.
I smile. "That's a great idea!"
Just then, we hear the announcer guy onstage "And now, for the Colonial Academy Madrigals!" A cheer goes up, and I walk onstage, confident about the future ahead.A/N: Wow guys!!!
