FOUR – Transcendental

Official autopsy reports stated that it was indeed Jean Kirchstein’s body. He was killed around 8 to 10 in the evening yesterday, Friday night. It said that he had internal bleeding inside his skull, which suspected that he was hit with something heavy. He also had scars, both light and deep, and cigarette burns. It was also seen that he had rope marks on his wrists and ankles, with the possibility that he was tied before either being tortured or killed. It was also found out that his hair was yanked out, with some of the strands found around his body. It may suggest that it was a form of torture, because he was resisting.

The cut on the nape of his neck was the most severing. It was seen that the spine surrounding his neck was broken; right after the killer had cut its nape. The cuts were also analyzed, and that they found out that the killer had at least more than one sharp material with him. It also was the same with the cigarette burns. Leftover tobacco found in his burns were not from one brand of cigarette. Because of this, the investigators had no idea who was the killer.

Possibilities of the reason for the crime were rather hazy. One possible reason was that because of political issues in the school, considering that elections ended just a month ago. His former competitors claim that they had no grudge against Jean in any way. Another is a family matter— because his father was a human resource manager in a certain company, and that they had trouble about their employees recently. Other reasons seemed ambiguous, so it was not considered.

All possible witnesses—family, relatives, friends, schoolmates, faculty, and even the people that he had talked since the election period were asked. In the end, their efforts of finding a possible suspect were fruitless; but the police still vowed to Jean’s family to find the killer.

Jean’s mother went insane the moment that she saw that his son’s head was separated from its body. She cradled his head on her arms and refused to give it back to the doctors in charge of the autopsy. Armin Arlert suffered from depression, which turned into schizophrenia. He is now sentenced into a psych ward in the capital.

Eren Yeager, who was vice president, took over the position of president of the Student Government. He appointed Mikasa Ackerman as his vice president. Armin, who used to be a councilor, was replaced by Annie Leonheardt, who was a strong member of the aikido club.

You, on the other hand, after a month of counseling and stress debriefing, is finally discharged and is claimed to be “perfectly normal” once more. Despite being able to go to school during that time, you were given amiable consideration to catch up with your studies. Of course, Levi helped you every step of the way.

Despite that, you still can’t get over what happened that day. The thought of Jean’s lifeless eyes were staring at you would still give you goosebumps. And because of that incident, you always have nightmares; making you wake up at the middle of the night either crying or having cold sweats.

You would always remember that phone call you had with Jean. That moment when his voice first came in— how he said ‘Hello’ in such a cheerful tone. It was so unlike him, but it made you laugh at that time.
