Leave It On (Newtmas)

Thomas and Newt have been roommates since they both started college, they hit it off pretty much straight away. They met Minho in the mythology class they share. He's over a lot and after a few months they were already the best of friends.

Minho basically lives with them; he keeps snacks and a few clothes in their place. His Xbox is set up between the two bunk beds. He usually will sleep on the top bunk of Thomas' bed. Minho is closer with Thomas then Newt probably because they have a lot of other classes together.

Newt comes back to his room most of the time to find the two boys their laughing and playing Xbox. It sets him on edge to find them like that. But he blames it on the fact that there will always be food all over the floor, and he's the one who will clean it up. He doesn't dwell on the fact that he's too irritated for it to just be about their mess.

Having a crush on your roommate is horrible. Newt shouldn't have a crush on Thomas when he's living with his annoying habits. Like the fact that he always falls asleep with the TV on. Always. It keeps Newt up; it looks like Thomas is watching it from where Newt's sleeping but when he gets up to check the shuckface is fast asleep. Thomas looks beautiful when he's sleeping, his eyelids fluttering slightly as if he's having a dream, and his mouth is always parted. If he's having a nightmare Newt finds him with his forehead crinkled and eyebrows in a frown. It shouldn't look as cute as it does. So Newt never says anything to him about it, just puts a blanket on him and turns off the TV.

He also gets very irritating when he's studying. If there's a big test coming up the whole floor will end up being covered in his books and loose paper.

Newt can't study when he's like that it's too distracting. He taps his pen constantly and hums random shit for hours. When Thomas is concentrating he always frowns, and he sits at odd angles. One day newt found him lying upside down on there couch highlighting.

The worst part is that Thomas cannot seem to keep his pens out of his mouth. How can Newt focus on his studying when Thomas is a metre away looking like a confused puppy and he's sucking on a highlighter? It shouldn't be as alluring as it is. He just can't get things done in these conditions.

But then Newt thinks about all the lovely things Tommy does. He always buys Newt his favourite snacks and stays up late to help him study. Of course Thomas doesn't realise Newt is focussed on him the entire time.

Although Newt does catch him staring, when he does Thomas will just blush and look away. Other times he'll poke out his tongue or grin.

They've both shared a lot with each other. Things they don't talk about with anyone else. Newt told the brunette about his struggle with depression, Newt is still shocked by how supportive and caring he is. He always seems to know when the younger boy is having one of his bad days. On those days they often huddle up on their small couch and watch cartoon re-runs. Thomas has confided in the blonde about him questioning his sexuality (later telling him that he's pansexual) Newt was the first person he came to, he put him at ease and gave support. The younger boy shared his experiences of coming out. There isn't a lot they don't know about each other which is why Newt feels so guilty.

Newt tells himself that he would do something about his crush, but he's pretty sure Thomas likes Minho and maybe he likes him back too. So he uses this as an excuse, he decides to leave things how they are.

While Tommy's in his classes he studies and reads it's the only time he'll definitely get some work done.

He enjoys this time without Tommy because he can just relax without the big distraction that is his attractive roommate. It's also when he can change into one of the outfits he keeps hidden and lie around and be comfortable.
