"Sorry I'm late, I overslept." I mumbled as I rushed into my first lesson. The lesson was pretty much over; we had ten minutes left. "Have you been to the head office?" My teacher asked, frowning at me. "Yeah, I've signed in late and everything," I nodded, taking a seat next to Luke at our desk.

"So, prom night tonight," He said quietly, nudging me. "Yep." I said, looking up at the board to try and figure out what I'd missed. "Did you get a date?" He asked. "Nope." I muttered, beginning to scribble down some quick notes. "You're still coming though, right?" He asked, turning to me a little. "No, I'm not going." I answered, shaking my head. "Oh." He said simply, and we sat in silence as we waited to be dismissed.

As I walked to my next lesson, I spotted Dinah. We made eye contact for a few seconds, but I quickly broke it, continuing to walk by her. I knew there was no point in trying anymore; she wasn't into me, and she wasn't into going to prom. At that point, neither was I. I wasn't exactly thrilled to stay in all night watching re-runs of Friends, but I'd accepted my fate.

I sat in the cafeteria with Luke and his friends at lunch like I usually did. I didn't want to bother Dinah anymore; she clearly didn't want anything to do with me. When she walked into the room, though, I couldn't help but stare at her.

She never usually came into the cafeteria; she always had a packed lunch, and she always sat outside of the music block. I wanted to go and find out what she was doing, but I'd become completely unmotivated.

Apparently, I'd much rather mope around in my own misery instead of continuing to try and get the only thing I've really wanted in a long time. My eyes followed her as she walked across the room, closer and closer to our table.

She made eye contact with me, and my stomach twisted in an odd way. She stood at the end of the table, and everyone else looked to her, including Luke and Tiffany. For a few seconds, I just stared at her, until it clicked in my head that I should probably get up and see what she wanted.

She began walking to the corner closest to us, and so I followed. "I finished my song." She said, crossing her arms over her chest. "Oh, cool." I mumbled, nodding a little. She took a deep breath in as if she was going to speak, but then just licked her lips and stayed silent. "What?" I asked, looking over the features of her face.

"You didn't mean what you said last night, so don't be upset over it." She muttered, looking around the room. "What makes you think I didn't mean it?" I frowned a little. "Cause people don't feel that way about me." She said, shaking her head. "Okay." I scoffed a little, knowing that she was wrong.

"So you're done with harassing me now?" She asked. "Mhm." I answered. "Awesome." She nodded a bit. "What did you come in here for?" I asked, leaning against the wall. Instead of trying to be cool, though, it was more like me not wanting to put the effort into standing up straight.

"I don't really know." She mumbled, looking down to her twiddling fingers. "Alright." I said, looking her up and down. "Well, have fun at the All Time Low concert tonight." I said, standing up straight again. "Have fun at prom." She said. "I'm not going." I mumbled, beginning to walk back to the table. "Oh." She said simply.

I sat back down in my spot, forcing myself to not look at her as she walked away.

We didn't talk to each other for the rest of the day. We both saw each other, looked at each other, but ignored each other. I'd never been bothered this much over a girl who wasn't mine in the first place, but it had put me in such a shitty mood.

I got on with my lessons and drove myself home, mentally preparing myself for the miserable night I was about to have.

I couldn't wait for the snapchat stories of all of my peers having an amazing time. I didn't care about the prom anymore, but I was certain it would add to the sting of Dinah not wanting anything to do with me.
