I opened the door to my house and my mom was seated on the sofa watching television. She looked at me and smiled.
"How was your walk, sweetie?" She asked me. I grinned at her.
"It was pretty good!" I answered back. She nodded and then turned back to the TV.
"Go ahead and wash up and get ready for supper." She told me as she got up from off of the sofa and headed into the kitchen. I walked upstairs and into my bedroom to gather up my clothes. I must have smelled like the outside and it was probably gross too. Once I gathered up my things, I made my way to the bathroom and got the shower running to the perfect temperature before taking my clothes off and stepping inside.
My thoughts ran wild while I was showering. But that's usually always how it worked. I thought better when I was in the shower and it may be weird but it's the truth. Scorpio was on my mind of course. Why can't people just respect that I want to forget about him?
'Lying again to myself, am I?' I asked myself.
I knew I couldn't forget him either. Nor did I really want to.
I hung my head low in the shower and let the shower head sprinkle thousands of tiny water droplets on to my head which rolled off onto the floor and on my face, getting into my eyes. I whipped my head up and I could hear the water from in my hair smack against the wall.
My head was spinning from lifting it up so fast and I had to hold onto the wall for support so I wouldn't trip and fall. I eyed the water circling down the drain. It made a tiny whirl pool.
Oh how I loved the water. It made me feel at peace and safe. The ocean itself was like a second home to me. Mom and dad used to bring me to the beautiful beaches back when I was younger but one day, dad suddenly disappeared and we never saw him or heard from him again. Mom was always sad and I was just confused and upset that he was gone. Mom never took me to the beach again. She said it just wasn't as beautiful to her anymore. The thought of it made me sad. I didn't understand back then because I was too little. But dad had disappeared and left us because he wanted to. Not because he didn't have a choice.
But let's just forget this sob story. It's the shower that's making me think about this honestly. I washed up and rinsed off before shutting off the water. I watched the water enter the drain. I watched as all my thoughts from before drowned away with it.
I got out and dried myself off with a towel before changing into a white nightgown that actually fit me perfectly this time.
"Pi, almost done? Dinner is served and ready!" I heard mom call from downstairs.
"Ready!" I called back before jogging down the stairs. My belly growled and mom laughed once I met her at the last step.
"Someone is very hungry." She laughed.
"Definitely." I laughed back before we both sat at the table together like a normal family.
