Riley laughs maniacally as he pours the jewls and jewellery out of the sack and onto the table they sit at. "Splendid!" He beams. "Huey, I think this was our biggest score yet!" He begins to count the jews.
Huey runs a thumb over the mask he wore earlier. She remembered me, he thinks, Should I go back? I never agreed..."These can last us enough coins for a year!" Riley says, making Huey look up at him. He frowns when he sees Riley wearing some of Jazmine's necklaces around his neck and rolls his eyes. "Where shall our next target be? I suggest the head merchant's--"
"Actually, Riley," Huey interrupts, "I feel I should return to the castle."
Riley frowns at this. "The castle? We never steal twice from the same location."
If I tell him, he'll completely disagree with the idea. "I know this, but I feel there's more to take," Huey lies, "If you want, I can go alone."
Riley snorts. "Fine by me! I shall go to the wealthy merchant's mansion tomorrow evening. You may go back to the castle. We will show each other what we each get."
Huey felt weird lying to Riley. He and his brother always stole together and found targets together, he felf uncomfortable leaving his brother on his own too. He was only thirteen after all.
"What have you prepared for dinner?"
Riley freezes.
Huey levels a look at him. "Riley. It is your turn."
"I know I know. Give me time to start the fire at least."
"I'll be back." Huey stands up and leaves the table. He opens the oak door and walks out his home. It was a little cottage their grandfather had bought from the previous owner made of stone and covered with a roof of wood and hay. It was in the forest, hidden and surrounded by trees. The perfect hiding spot.
Years ago, Huey had helped his grandfather build a round fence next to the cottage where the animals could be kept. He glances at it. All that wandered there was a cow currently. We'll have to find more meat, Huey thinks.
He finds himself taking a stroll away from his home and ends at the river where he and Riley usually get water. He looks down at the moving dark reflection of himself in the water.
He observes his reflection, then thinks of the boy in the mask. The Dark Shadow.
"I know you will not."
"And why is that?"
"You're eyes tell me so..."
"You may steal, but your eyes speak honesty...and trust." She grins. "You would not defy a maiden."
Huey chuckles dryly, shaking his head. "Foolish girl. You don't know me, princess..." He kicks the water. "No one does."

The next day...
Jazmine looks through her dresses in her huge wardrobe. Something dark, something that won't draw attention to myself, she thinks. There's a knock on her door that makes her jump. "Um, come in."
The door flies open and Jazmine gasps. "Ming! You are still here?"
Ming walks in, and for once Hiro isn't by her. She shakes her head, grinning. "I requested that I stay with you a few more days. Grandfather has everything taken care if in Anihc."
"Oh Ming! How wonderful!" Ming laughs as her friend pulls her into a huge. Jazmine rarely had any friends over, and that was because they were all so far away from each other. Then Jazmine frowns. Should I tell her?
