A flashlight shined on us as we saw the figures of Katie, Callie, Juliann, and two other maids that I was unfamiliar with.
"K-Katie!" I yelped in shock. Ben just had this annoyed look on his face like he didn't care that we were caught but didn't want to be disturbed.
Katie crossed her arms. "Yep, and you better explain yourselves!"
I looked over to Ben, who shrugged slightly, before making up a story. "Uh...Ben, here, found a piece of paper that had the drawing of a map that led to a warehouse on this island, so we thought we would check it out, you know?" I lied through my grit teeth.
Katie's frown turned into a giant grin as she slapped me on the back. I flinched. Have I ever told you about how strong she was?!
"Alright then, just tell me next time, okay? I would want to come too. Let's go then while repairs are being made on the generators, okay?" Katie said.
I was going to protest when Ben finally spoke. "Fine, you can come, just don't get in the way, Ok?"
I looked at him like he was insane but just went along with it. Maybe he had a plan of some sort.
Katie clapped her hands together. "Great!" She said as she handed both me and Ben a flashlight. It sucked, because I could actually see in the dark, but my eyes would turn red so I couldn't do that. I just had to stick with what I had, which in this case was a small hello kitty flashlight key chain.
"Ok, lead the way," said Ben in a monotone voice. I nodded and led everyone outside and down a small path in the woods. If the map was correct, then the path should branch of into three separate ones. We need to take the left one.
"Wait a minute," said juliann. "If the elf found the map, then shouldn't he be leading us?"
Ben's face turned red. "I am not in elf, you-" He started to yell, but I cut him off.
"Well Ben lost the map and I studied it so I know the path by heart," I lied once again.
Juliann crossed her arms and pouted once we go to the three paths. I took the left one as I thought about the route. We should come across end the warehouse in a few more seconds...
"Is that it?" Callie asked with wide eyes as she pointed in front of us.
I looked up and gasped.
The building was huge, worn down, and about three stories high, but I knew it was probably one because of the high ceilings. But the thing that made me gasped was something entirely different.
There was a light coming from one of Windows.
