picture is Jason
I sat on our bed and waited for Jason to get ready. Tonight was the award showcase for school, where the same smart people collect the same award for every class. Jason is forcing me to go, thinking I'll actually win something. I don't think they make an award called "Loner who never shows up."
I glanced into the bathroom where Jason was shaving and a strange feeling instantly hit me. An urge surged through my body. A powerful one that made me want to grab that razor and cut my arm. I shook my head to rid these thoughts and watched the T.V instead.
"You ready baby?" he asked as he emerged from the bathroom. His little pet names still had an effect on me like none other.
"I've been ready for fifteen minutes," I teased, pulling him out of the room by the tie. I swear he's the girl in this relationship with all the time it takes him to get ready.
"It takes time, this beautiful face doesn't just happen," he joked. I suppose you're supposed to get dressed up for this, but my skater skirt and tights were dressy enough.
"Yes it does," I giggled and grabbed a flannel before we exited the house. When we arrive to the school, he dropped me off in the front and went to park so nothing would seem suspicious.
I made my way to the auditorium alone, running my arms as a breeze hit me. "Hey," Skylar said as she joined my side.
"Want to sit together?" I asked and she eagerly nodded. I didn't want to sit alone, and she's the only friend I had. We took a seat toward the middle and talked about how lame this whole ordeal was.
The ceremony soon began and all the usual kids got called up, according their little pieces of paper. This reminded me of kindergarten when you got a gold star on your chart for being good. The shit was pointless.
"For most improved we have Parker Davis," Mrs. Noel called out. My eyes widened as some people started clapping, but not nearly as many as the other students had. I sunk into my seat, not wanting to accept the award. "Parker Davis?" Mrs. Noel repeated. Skylar hit my arm for me to go.
Sighing, I rose from my seat and made my way to the stage steps. With shaky legs, I walked on the stage. My frown grew wider as people began to boo. I punched my arm as tightly as I could for the remainder of my time on stage. As I was leaving, I saw Jason and that woman standing together in the back.
I felt tears rising in my eyes and I ran out of the auditorium. Why did I even go on that stupid stage? "Congrats loser, you won the lamest award. I didn't know they gave those to freaks though," Lily sneered. She had Ryan looped around her arm who just smirked evilly.
I scoffed and felt my head down as people poured out of the auditorium. Students gave me looks and I angrily crumbled up my award, stomping on it.
"Babe, calm down," Jason whispered, keeping his distance. The hallway had cleared out pretty quickly, but there were a few stragglers.
"Leave me alone, go be with your new girlfriend!"
"Not this again. Parks, you know she's not my girlfriend."
"And why not? She's stunning, and skinny, and your age!" I nearly cried out.
He sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets. I knew it was so he wouldn't touch me, because he couldn't right now. "I want to be with you! You're everything she is and isn't! I think you're perfect."
Tears continued to slide down my face and I pushed my hair back. Everything in my life was so confusing and I felt like I was going to vomit. Suddenly my world went black and the numbness disappeared. It was pure bliss.
