A/N: again, written on my phone yikes sorry
"Eve, what's wrong... What happened..." Andy stared, unable to hide the fact that he too was scared now.
Eve hugged herself and looked away. "You need to come back to the game, Andy. Prophet. Please, help me.. Help us." she looked back.
Andy bit his lip and looked over his shoulder. "Time stops here, right? While I'm gone?" He exhaled shakily.
Eve nodded. "Yeah."
Andy nodded as well and took a step back. "Alright.. Pull me in. And- careful, please."
Eve laughed quietly and reached her arm though through the computer screen.Everything went black for a brief moment, just like the first time. Although, unlike last time, it wasn't as pretty of a sight.
It was dusty, and the sky was clouded with sand particles. The sun was nothing but a dull bulb hanging tiredly, hopelessly trying to light up the land and ultimately failing.
Andy looked down at himself and saw he was back in the same attire from his first go in the game world. The one sleeved leather jacket, the black bandana, the pants.
"Good to be back.." Andy smiled faintly at Eve.
Eve smiled back weakly. "Is it really, Andy?" She said, voice hoarse. Andy's smile faltered. He looked out at the clouded horizon.
"How did this all happen?" He sighed.
Eve folded her arms over her chest and looked at him.
"William has too much control in this world." She said gravely.
"Wait- William?" He frowned.
"The leader of F.E.A.R. No one knows his name here, so the few of us that know of the real world call him William." Eve explained. "They're both very different beings, obviously as the one here was created for the purpose of evil."
Andy nodded, hiding a grimace. "Right."
Eve glanced at him. "We should start walking... They're held in the cells at the F.E.A.R. headquarters." She said softly and began walking. Andy nodded and walked alongside her, stopping suddenly. He grasped his head on either side, face twisting up in mild discomfort. Eve stopped as well.
"Woah, woah- are you okay?" She gasped.
Andy nodded, stiff. "My head it- ah-" he squeezed his eyes shut tighter.
For some reason, all of a sudden there was an unbearably shrill ringing in his ears, and his head throbbed. But as fast as it took over, it was gone again.Andy straightened up slowly, in case he accidentally aggravated whatever caused that freak headache. "I think.. I think I'm okay now." He decided and walked on. Eve frowned, letting the matter go and walking up alongside him.
They talked a little bit on the way, making casual small talk about stuff off and on. It was mostly Eve teasing him and questioning him about his relationship with Ashley. She was a little disappointed to hear how things were going, however.
"You pushed him away? What the hell?" She frowned.
"It was too much, ok? And I didn't physically push him.. I just said no." He mumbled, rubbing his neck awkwardly as they walked.
"Yknow what I want you to do when you get back?" She cocked a brow. Andy met her gaze and mimicked the brow raise. Eve nudged him. "Kiss him. Hug him. Take advantage of the time you've got with him.. You never know when it'll be gone someday, ok?"Andy furrowed his brow. "Uh. Okay. Yeah, sure." He blinked and looked back ahead.
Eventually, the two came face to face with the large structure. Andy looked at Eve and nodded, placing a hand against the cold stone building. The opening revealed itself, the wall sliding away from under Andy's hand.
"Here goes nothing, I guess." Eve breathed and went in, Andy close in tow. They wandered the dark interior of the headquarters, keeping close watch for any potential threat to either of them, or their current mission.
"Hey, Eve- down here! This is the dungeon entrance!" He whispered, pointing to the gaping hole in the flooring.
"They're on the other side, I thought. We were in there together, remember?" She furrowed her brow.
"No, no, these are different cells, though. Trust me, ok? It's a long story." He sighed heavily and sat down, pushing himself down into the darkness below. Eve followed hesitantly and looked around, seeing only the reflection of the dim amount of light from above."Holy shit." Eve breathed, able to just barely see the whites of the eyes of each and every one of the rebels that had looked up to see who had come down.
Andy didn't bother to stop and look. He knew where he was going, and who he was going to.
Deviant..
"He isn't down here, is he. Deviant." Andy said to the prisoners hiding in the dark cells.
There was silence, but Andy knew it meant no.
"Eve, work on getting them out." He said and walked down the dark corridor, passing cell after cell.
"But-"
"Eve, this is between me and him." Andy snapped, not looking back to apologize for the sudden attitude.
He pushed open the large wooden door that was sitting a crack open and found himself in an empty room. No windows, no lights, not even a dangling, broken light bulb like the other cells. It was just a room of stone, cold bricked stone.
"Andy..?" A voice rasped in the corner.
Andys eyes widened as a light, coming quite literally out of nowhere, slightly dimmed the room. Deviant laid slumped against the corner, lips badly chapped and split, a bit of blood dried on the edge of his mouth.
"Deviant- Ashley- oh my god." He ran over, scrambling to kneel by him and raise him up into his arms. "What happened? Oh my god... Oh my god, are you okay?"
"Peachy." Deviant drawled, sitting up and opening an eye. "Nice to see you, kid. Looking good as always."
Andy smiled sadly. "Seriously? You look like death, and you're flirting?"
"Whoever said I was flirting?" Deviant laughed dryly, coughing into his arm. "Where's Eve?"
Andy sighed, pulling him up onto his feet. "She's freeing the others... C'mon we need to get out of here.."
He began to help Deviant hobble out, until Deviant finally pulled back from his arm. Andy stopped and turned to look at him. He noticed then that the light in the room had begun to grow brighter, and harsh. Figuring it was just the game, Andy motioned to the door.
"Cmon, we have to-" he stopped. "...leave?" He whispered, phrased as a question as he had seen the dungeon empty. In fact, nothing was there.
It was just black.
"Deviant, what's going on?" He worried, looking back over quickly. The sudden head movement caused the sharp ringing to once again return, head pounding. His whole body began to ache, causing him to slowly fall to his knees on the cold floor. Deviant didn't move. Instead he stared at Andy, expression heartbroken and crestfallen.
"Andy, please.. You need to wake up.
