Ch.32 Finally

Alex POV

I drive up Monica's driveway and walk to the door using the key she gave me about a week ago to go inside. I close the door and walk toward the living room. I stop short seeing that everyone was here. Except for Amanda and my parents, even Jake is here. Monica stood up and gave me a hug and I whisper to her ear,"So much for just the two of us."

I pull away and give her a glare. Rydel followed giving me a hug while saying,"Where were you?"

"I think a lifeguard took me home,"I respond receiving a couple of questioning looks.

"Not like that,"I say looking around for a seat. The only seat that was empty was next to Ross and Laura and she was sitting on his lap. I turn away quickly and sit next to Riker who stood up to gave me a warm welcoming hug. We hugged for like 5 minutes and I could feel everyone's eyes on us. I didn't care if I pulled away right now they would see me all teary eyed.

"I needed that,"I whisper when we pulled away.

"Anytime,"he said pulling me onto his lap while I lay my head on his chest.

I stay like that and listen to everyone answer questions.

I lay eyes on Jake and his hurt expression and decide to ask him how the hell he got here.

"Jake not be rude or anything but how did you know where Monica lives?"I ask staying on Rikers lap.

"She called me,"he responded cooly.

"How did you get his number?"I ask directing my question to Monica.

"Your contacts on your laptop,"she responded with a shrug. I nod and lay my head on Rikers chest. I place my phone on the coffee table and lay back on his chest. I try to avoid looking towards Ross and Laura but can't help it. I look up to just in time to make eye contact with Laura. She gives me a little thumbs up and points to their entwined hands. I fake a smile and return the thumbs up. I close my eyes and Riker quietly asks,"You okay?"

"Yeah why?"I ask hatting the fact I'm lying to my best guy friend.

"Liar,"he replies with a chuckle,"I know you well enough to know your lying just answer one question,"he says looking down at me.

"What?"I ask.

"Is it because of Ross and Laura being together?"he whispers into my ear. I stare at him and lay back down not answering his question.

"I'll take that as a yes,"he says with a light chuckle.

"Just don't say anything,"I beg quietly.

"I won't,"he says beginning to play with my hair.

After a couple of minutes of me laying on his chest my phone begins to ring and I jump out of his lap to retrieve it.

"Its Daniel,"I say turning to Monica. I can't help but feel the excitement build up inside me. What if he convinced his parents to let me see Ethan? I slide my finger across the screen.

"Daniel,"I say running a hand through my hair.

"Ok so i talked with my parents and they agreed on letting you see Ethan yesterday but since you weren't answering I figured I would try again today. Can you come around 3:30?"he asks. I look at the clock on the kitchen microwave 2:07 it read.

"Yes! Yes! I can be there!"I say happily.

"Great! See you soon,"he says ending the call.

I shriek and turn to Monica excitement radiating off of me.

"I can see him! Today!"I say hugging Monica and almost knocking her down.

"That great news!"she says still hugging me tightly. I turn around and the closest person to hug is Ross. He has a huge smile on his face and I can't help but look away and turn to Riker. Hugging him and shrieking I finally let go and once again Ross was closer but I once again avoided him and went to Jake.

"Congratulations on whatever it is your so happy about,"he says and I can tell he doesn't like not knowing what was going on.

"Well I will have to fill you in now won't I,"I say with a smirk.

"You sure will."

I smile and turn to face the group of people in front of me.

"Well I will have to talk to you guys later I have to go meet up with a very important someone,"I say and turn to leave.

I hear Ross excuse himself and I close the door behind me.

"Alex,"I hear him call out and I turn around only to have him nearly knock me to the ground.

"What the hell Ross,"I scold while holding on to his arm to balance myself.

"What's wrong?"he asks while looking at my face.

"Why do you think something's wrong? I just got the best news of my life and yet your asking me what's wrong?"I cross my arms over my chest. I mentally tell myself to stop acting like a bitch because I'm making it way to obvious.

He shrugs and runs a hand through his hair,"you just seem,"he pauses and tries to think of the right word,"edgy."

My knees begin to shake. I'm running low on patience I tell myself.

"What do you want me to do so I can prove to you that I'm not edgy?" I ask my arms tight on my chest causing me a slight problem to breath.

"Forget it,"he says shaking his hair and going back inside.

I grunt and get into the car and smack the wheel several times while scolding myself. I look at the clock 2:17. Only ten minute have passed since Daniel called and it sure as hell felt like a lot more time.
