Chapter 5

"After School"

Annabeth's P.O.V (finally)

   After detention Isabella asked me if I wanted to go watch the soccer team practice. "Actually , I do not know..." I answered. "Oh, come on it will be fun, plus Joel is going to be there," Isabella added, which made me blush like crazy. "Fine, what could go wrong?" I replied after a minute of thinking it through. Soon after that we were on our way to the field.
   As we started walking down the now empty hallways I started to think back to what Isabella had said earlier in detention. Was there really something going on between me and Joel? And more importantly was it that obvious? Had anyone else noticed the awkward stares and the sudden blushing? Had Yoandri noticed?!!
   Come on Annabeth breathe. You and Joel are just friends. It is completely normal that things are awkward between you guys at first. There is nothing more than a developing strong friendship between you guys. Well at least that is what I keep telling myself...
   There is just something about him that makes me wish we were more than friends. But that could never happen. One he would never look at me the same way and two he was after all my brother's best friend.
   As soon as we got out in the field we sat down on the bleachers closest to the guys. There we were joined by Jessica. I really do not know her, and it might be wrong to judge her so soon but there is something about her I do not like. Oops!
   "Isn't just Joel the cutest?" She commented. Yup there it is now, my reason to not like her. "Yeah he is cute," I added harshly. As soon as those words left my mouth something in the field caught my eye... Well more like someone caught my eye...
   There he was dribbling the ball towards the opposite goalie box. As he ran faster and closer to the golie box, he suddenly kicked the ball and scored.
   "Wow he is amazing," I said in awed. "Of course he is honey, he is the captain of the soccer team for a reason," added Jessica. "No shit, I thought you were the captain," I added sarcastically.
   All I got back from Jessica was a cold glare but I could care less because as I turned my attention back to Joel I noticed he was already looking. Which made my cheeks heat up, and then the most unexpected thing happened he winked at me. What was this boy doing to me?...

Joel's P.O.V

   As soon as Detention was over I rushed out to the locker room to get dressed for soccer practice. When I was done getting dressed I pretty much ran out to the field. There is nothing in this world that I love more than soccer.
   Now do not get me wrong I also love my family and friends, but my love for soccer is way different. Like some people could express themselves through a dance, or a song or even a drawing, I can express myself in a field with a soccer ball at my feet.
   As I made my way to my position on the field I noticed Yoandri giving me worried looks. But why? I mean I've been acting pretty strange today, but it's not my fault! I just can not get her out off my mind! I do not get why I can't stop thinking about her?
   Everything about her makes me go crazy! I have never felt like this towards anyone before. But I knew better than to fall for my best friend's sister. One, Yoandri would probably hate me. And then I do not think Annabeth would ever like me.
   But before I had time to keep processing my thoughts, the ball is kicked towards me. I immediately react and I start dribbling the ball towards the goalie post. All I could feel running through my veins was pure adrenaline.
   Then as I got close to the goalie post, I kicked the ball with all my strength and I scored! I had been so focused on scoring that goal that I had not noticed Annabeth on the bleachers. Until now, and she was looking as beautiful as ever.
   I know I had just seen her in detention, but she always managed to take my breath away. After looking at her for a while I decided to do something unexpected. Without thinking it twice I winked at her. And let me just tell you I could get used to making her blush.
