Okay, so I know that a lot of people on this website, some of whom are actually reading this book would consider themselves as a nerd and/or a geek.
I am neither.
I will admit, during my cringy 4th grade to the beginning of 7th grade years, I was a nerd.
I was not a geek. There is a difference, for those of you who don't identify with either group.
1) Geek:
So a geek is someone who is incredibly smart and likes to show it off.
That kid that you chest off of in math class that gets 100% on every test? Geek.
That kid that knows the answer to every question the teacher asks and always raises their hand? Geek.
The kid that corrects the teacher and argues and does research to prove that they're right? Geek.
2) Nerd:
Contrary to a geek, a nerd does not have to be smart.
A nerd is simply into "nerdy" things. And no, I don't mean those wannabe nerds that play Pokemon Go with their friends and wear the hipster glasses and occasionally play Super Mario Bros.
I mean people that are typically tagged as "losers." However, what seperates a nerd from a loser is that nerds are a clique, whereas losers are alone.
The guy that's a senior and plays actual pokemon with the trading cards and Shit? Nerd.
The guy that wears those sweatervests every day to school with long, tan, kakhi pants? Nerd.
The guy that tries to talk to you but gets spit in your face because of his headgear? Nerd.
So, anyways, geeks and nerds are a vital part of school life.
Here are some things you should know about geeks.
1) Cheating:
As aforementioned, geeks are wonderful for cheating. Whether it's homework or a test, geeks rarely cover their work, leaving you a lovely leeway to copy everything.
You may have to paraphrase because of their immense vocabulary and their need to show it off, but all in all, easiest way to cheat is to copy a geek.
And, something that's even better? They don't fucking care if you cheat off of them! They won't help you cheat, but they won't stop you from doing so.
2) Help
If you are having trouble in class, whether it's with a specific assignment or if it's with whatever you're learning, a geek can help you out.
Since, chances are that they have learned everything beforehand, they typically have an immense knowledge of what you're learning about. What's this mean for you?
Well, it means that all you have to do is ask and they will gladly explain everything to you.
However, some geeks are nicer and more helpful than others. Some of them will bash you (verbally) if you can't get it right on the first try, or make rude noises or obnoxious comments.
If you have trouble dealing with these kinds of people, just go straight for the teacher. The geek is great because they are slightly more relatable and better to be around than a teacher (although that also depends on how shitty your teacher is).
3) The dark side:
Although geeks can be wonderful, getting on their bad side can be very bad news for you.
