"Mikey, honey, sit down. We need to talk," says Mikey's mother, beckoning him to come closer.

"What is it?" Mikey asks hesitantly. Donna brushes her hair behind her ear.

"I'm sending you to normal school this year, and if you don't like it, we'll pull you out. I'd like for you to try this again."

Mikey breaks out into a grin. He throws his arms around his mother and hugs her tightly. "You have no idea how much I love you right now." He pulls away and runs to his room, grabbing his phone and starting a facetime with Pete. Pete picks up after a few rings.

"Mikey! I have news!"

"I have news, too!" Mikey grins ear-to-ear.

"You first."

"No, you."

"Okay, I've decided that since we won't be seeing each other very much once school starts, I'm going to spend as much time as I can with you."

"Pete, you don't have to do that."

"What?" Pete questions, causing Mikey to make an effort not to audibly coo at the face Pete's making.

"Apparently, I'm going to public school now," Mikey says brightly. The screen goes dark. There's a loud crash, and the sound of Pete mumbling 'oh, shit' can be heard.

"Sorry. Dropped my phone. That's great, Mikes," Pete says, a wide grin on his face.

"I know," Mikey beams.

"I have to go, but I'll text you later, okay? Love you."

"Love you, too. Bye, Pete."

"Bye!"

Mikey ends the call with a smile that's worth a thousand dollars.
