Aria

"I think I know who I'm going to ask to the dance." I casually brought up as Carmen and I were sitting at our favorite lunch table by the window in the cafeteria.

"What!" Carmen abruptly stopped eating and stared at me

"Je vais demander à Zach."

"You're gonna ask Zach!" she said in a whisper

"Yeah," I looked down embarrassed "but do you think he will say yes?"

"Umm, look at you, I mean you're stunning!"

"You really think so?" I'm definitely not as pretty as Carmen or Ashlee

"Do you wanna hear a list?" Carmen started listing things before I could answer that I didn't really need to know
"You have beautiful hair with natural highlights, adorable clothes, perfect completion?" Carmen looked at me

"I'm just gonna go ask him" I sucked in a breath and stood up. As I headed towards him (lucky for me his friends were dumping their trays) I looked back at Carmen and she gave me two thumbs up and a awkward face, I smiled and turned back. I approached him.

"Um..uh hi." I said trying to sound perky. I killed myself inside

"Uh, hi" he smiled at me and I melted inside, God I love his smile. I just calmed myself. You can do this, he looked confused at me, of course I would make this weird. My stomach was full of butterflies

"Do...umm," I stiffed a nervous laugh "Would you like to go to the dance?"

Even if he didn't say yes I still felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. Carmen was probably wondering what was taking so long. He gave me a sympathetic smile. This is it he was obviously not interested.

"Sure I'll go with you" I looked up quickly

"That's okay I guess,I understand. Wait did you say yes?" I clarified. He laughed at my shocked expression

"Well, yeah" he gave me a crooked smile.

"Okay," I tried to sound calm even though my hands were still shaking

"How about I pick you up around 6:30?"

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," I said turning, I twisted back towards him "and next period." He laughed as I walked back to Carmen.

"Results?" She raised her eyebrows

"Positive!"

"Yeah!" She exclaimed
