Mixed Emotions

Chpt 7

( I promised I wasn't giving up on this story. I love to write it and I appreciate the support I've been getting. I'm sorry for waiting forever to upload but with school and getting ready for college, I invest most of my free time in resting, lol. But chapter 7 is here and I will be working on other chapters in the meantime. Take care^^)

"Drew! Can't you come with me?"

"I can't Koda. I have to stay here and wait for my dad to come home."

"Oh come on..we'll only be gone for a little bit. He won't even know. I found something cool! You just gotta come see it."

"I..mm..I don't know. Mama is upstairs sleeping and I didn't ask for permission to leave. I don't want to wake her up either."

"Come with me. Pleeease?"

"Okay..but if I get in trouble, I get to blame you."

"Haha, yes! Hurry and put on your shoes."

"Okay, okay."

"Come on follow me."

"Where are we going?"

"To the base! I found something amazing."

"See! See! Right here. I hid it under this rock."

"Woooooah. What is it, Koda?"

"I dunno. But isn't it neat?"

"It's the coolest thing I've ever seen! Can we keep it??"

"Of course. It's like our baby now!"

"Baby?"

"Yeah, it's like a baby. That we'll keep and love forever. I mean we can't just leave something as awesome as this sitting outside cold and alone."

"What if we lose it..?"

"We'll use our super powers to find it, Drew. Besides, good parents never lose their babies, so neither will we."

That shiny, green pebble was the ultimate symbol of our friendship.

I remember so vividly the excitement that beamed in Koda's eyes.

He did love to explore as kids.

It was a rather large size for a pebble.

The size of a child's palm.

An opaque color of mixed lime green and brown.

The surface was smooth to the touch and shined in the light.

I just loved the smell of the Earth's natural aroma it was covered in.

Now that I think back, the only thing Koda found more exciting since that rock child, was college.
