Chapter 1

Aria's Pov-

I look at the small photoframe holding a beautiful picture of me and him. Taken just before the fireworks show we went to attend. His eyes shining bright as diamonds in the sky, and my smile spread wide across my face, and he is the only reason behind it. Nostalgia leads me back to memories but before it affects me anymore I decide to move out of the room; leaving the photo behind.

But just before I leave I pause at the door. My eyes closed shut trying to hold back the emotions.

"Thank you so much for everything. But I need to go now." I think and finally close the door of the room. My mom is waiting downstairs for me. A mixed kind of emotion is in the air.

"Okay Mom, I am leaving now but you have to promise you'll take care of yourself. And you'll take all your medicine on time.And I repeat no late night TV watching. You understand?" I instruct my Mom as I take the bags out of the door. For a moment she doesn't say a thing. Probably trying to say something. I don't dare to turn back cause I know I won't be able to hold my emotions.

"Oho Aria, I understand and I will take care of myself. Sometimes I feel like you are my mother." She says finally and the tension in the air is relieved. Leaving my country for studies is something I'd never thought I'd do. But here I am. Standing at the door of my house, leaving my Mom alone. But I try to keep it cool.

"I'm Sorry for all the drama but it's just that I'm leaving you here all by yourself and with your health it's just makes me worried." I say turning around.

She comes forward. Tucking a stray strand of my hair behind my ear.

"I'm so glad you are taking this chance to get out of this. You are very brave my love and I want you to know that I am so proud of you. Don't ever change yourself okay. Be kind and be brave." She says and hugs me tightly.

I hug her tightly. And now I am not any 23 years old woman but a little girl who is about to leave her mom for some period. "I'm gonna miss you so much. Don't forget to take your medications properly. And you can call me anytime you want. I love you Mom." I say holding my tears back.

"I love you too honey. Now don't make this old woman cry. Let's go your taxi is here." She says kissing my forehead. Taxi driver is kind enough to help me with the luggage. I wave a final goodbye to my Mom and get inside the car.

"Take me to the airport please." I ask the driver.

"Sure Miss." He smiles.

This is it. This is a big start for me. A new start I needed. My whole life would change after this. As a art student I always wanted to travel the world. And this is something I have always wanted to do. But some events caused me to forget about my passion for a time. As a hard working student I got the international scholarship to the best art college in Portugal. It was the no. 1 college in the world. Once you get the admission you get the wide range of opportunities to work after college.

"We are here Miss. Hope you have a safe flight." He announces.

He helps me get my luggage on the trolley and wishes me good luck. I get settled on my seat and sigh in relief. This is going to be hell. I hate flying. Oh god I already regret this.

After landing in Portugal I took a taxi to reach my college. I submitted all the necessary documents that were required. The lady at the reception gave me directions to reach the dorms. I was given a room on the second floor. I had to share the room. But my roommate wasn't there when I got inside. It was a big room with wide space. I had my own study table and closet too. But the bathroom had to be shared. I quickly stuffed my clothes and other things on place.When I flopped down on my bed the door opend and a beautiful brunette walked in.

"Well Hello there stranger, I'm Samantha but you can call me Sam. And you must be...." She said shaking my hand.

"Hi I'm Aria, Aria Carter. Nice to meet you." I said shaking her hand.

She seemed nice. She had black hair and blue eyes. She had some freckles around her cheeks. She had a beautiful smile. I like her already.

"Hi Aria, it's nice to see you too. Looks like we are going to be the awesomest roommate this college has ever seen. " She says smiling.

I smile at her.

She sat down on her bed and looked around. When she saw the One Direction posters on my side, her smile just got even wider.

"One Direction fan ha?? We are going to be best friends." She shouted and started singing one of the songs; no doubt I joined too.

I helped her to settle in. She had so many clothes that I told her that she can use some space left in my closet. After we were done we sat on our beds.

"Thanks Aria, if it weren't for you,I would have been dead by now."

"Don't be silly. It was nothing. Let's go have dinner. Do you know where is dining hall?" I asked her.

"Of course I don't know. But we can find it right?"

"Yeah!! Let's go."

I quickly sent a message to my mom telling everything is OK.And we went out to find dining  hall.After getting almost lost we Somehow we found the hall and sat down to eat.

"Hey are going to work too? I mean part time job or something??Because I desperately need to find one." She said munching on her food.

"Yeah,I need to find one too.I could use some extra money." I said after thinking.

"Maybe we can find someplace where we both can work.I  saw this news on notice bord about some agency that helps to find jobs for students. Maybe we can go there tomorrow."

"Yeah that sounds good. We'll go tomorrow."

It's going to be a beautiful day. I can't wait for tomorrow.
