Mina Pov
Agonising pain. Burning waves roll over my body as I arch my back in pain trying to fight it. Lamia was sponging my head trying to ease my soaring temperature as Thranduil stood in shock.
"What did you say ?" His shocked voice rings out. Lamia looks at him but a pained scream has her attention on me and another two healers running in to help. "I said she was shifting my lord. Surely you know of her origins ?" He blinks again and shakes his head.
"No, I did not." He fixes his icy glare on me before briskly walking out of the room. Another agonising pain flows through me causing a half roar- half scream to rip from my body. I pant heavily knowing I have to get away from people before I fully shift.
I shove the healers away with inhuman strength, causing Lamia to shout orders and run to the closest injured healer. I push myself of the bed and quickly stumble out of the room, thudding down the hall, receiving strange looks from the elves.
Some guards give me concerned looks before running to the direction of the throne room. I grip the wall as a wave of pain rolls through me almost falling to the floor. I grit my teeth and fight the urge to attack anyone who gets too close.
"MINA !" I hear Thranduil calling my name as I push myself off the wall and make my way to the forest. I hear faint footsteps, and worried tones as I make it to the edge of the forest and collapse in pain, lying on the ground.
"I accept my fate." I say softly, knowing that every elf near me including the king could hear me, before a final strong wave of pain ripples through me, rearranging my bones into a wolf's skeletal structure.
A final human scream rips from my throat as my face bones reconstruct into a wolf snout. I just lie there waiting for the pain to subside before I clumsily stand on my newly formed four legs.
I turn in a slow circle taking in my wolf form. I could get used to this. I then take up a defensive stance when I hear a crunch of leaves and footsteps. I look up and see Thranduil and some guards as well as Legolas and a few other elves looking at me in horror, amazement, curiosity and awe.
Thranduil waves his hand and everyone disappears, leaving us alone. He walks forward leaving a little distance between us. "Can you communicate ?" I look him in the eyes and bow my head once.
"Yes, I can. I'm the only one who has full control over my animal form." He looks at me in suprise. "You just spoke without moving your lips. How is that possible ?" I move my head to the side. " it's called telepathy or a mindlink. It's a connection I can use to talk to people while I'm like this."
He nods in understanding. "Can you shift back ?" I nod my head. "unless I'm in danger and need to revert to this form if I'm injured really bad." He nods again. I catch a scent of woodsy musk mixed with vanilla in the air along with the scent of earth and rain.
"Dwarves. And an elf. Could be the elleth I recused. If it is, be warned she doesn't know her past. Her memories were taken as she crossed the rift many years ago so go easy on her. Okay? " His lips twitch upwards and he nods stepping back.
"Yes of course. I will get rooms ready and think of an explanation for your, uh, condition." I bow my furry head before stepping back too. "Good idea. I'll escort them to the throne room then I have to go."
He goes to leave but turns back round. "Go where?" I look over my shoulder. "To see a friend, calm down." He narrows his eyes and walks off as I bound off into the forest in the direction of the dwarves.
