Mina pov

I relished the feeling of the breeze as it ran through my fur. Once I landed on the ground I was off and there was no stopping me. I ran as fast as I could for hours through the forest howling and yipping in joy.

My happiness was cut short when a high pitched scream tore through the air which made me stop in my tracks. I didn't even need to smell the air to tell it was orcs. I howled a warning hoping the anyone close would hear it above the screams and bounded in the direction of the first scream.

I crashed through the treeline straight into an orc, as I rolled over him I bit deep into his neck making sure he wouldn't get back up. I choked on the bitter blood and shaked my head before moving on to the next. I made my way through five more, decapitating and biting until an arrow just missed my leg causing me to glance up at the scene before me.

Orcs where everywhere I looked. People were either dead or dying in the streets, mothers fought to protect their children and father's fought to protect them. It was horrific. Houses were rampaged and ruined. Some where on fire and the stench of death and smoke mingled in the air.

Another high pitched scream set my instincts on edge as my head snapped into he direction. Then it hit me. Lilley. This is her village. I shook my fur free of blood and bounded in the direction of her home. I whined immediately as I witnessed the horrible scene. Four orcs had broke into the house and dragged everyone outside. Lining them up they struck them down one by one leaving Lilley and her mother alive. I snarled loudly getting the orc's attention and crouched low getting ready to attack.

One of them dropped Lilley to the ground and I watched carefully as she crawled to her mother, who by the looks of it was already dead. Pangs of guilt and grief hit me as I knew her well, I'd visit her often and we'd talk, mostly about my adventures. My attention snapped back to the orcs and I attacked recklessly.

Biting, shattering and crushing anything I could until nothing moved. I shook my fur again and slowly made my way to Lilley. I pushed at her hand with my head, signalling to her we needed to leave. "No. I'm not leaving them !" She cried through floods of tears. I forcefully shifted back gasping and falling over in pain. "Lilley, we gotta go, there's another orc pack coming and I can't fight them alone."

She sniffed and nodded. "I know Mina. I know, I just can't-" I enveloped her in a hug wrapping my arms around her wanting to take all her pain and suffering away. She pulled away first and walked into the house, coming out a few seconds later with a bag and sword. "Do you know how to use that?" Lilley nods and I stand up. "I take it you also know how to ride ?" She nods again. "Good. I'm gonna have to shift to get you out of here. I'm taking you to Mirkwood it's the closest and we have the best chance of getting there."

As I shift I notice the girl taking a deep breath before facing me. "Let's go. Please." I nod once before hunching down to let her on, and then run in the direction of the elves entirely trusting my nose. It wasn't before long that I heard a squeal from Lilley. "MINA ! ORCS" I gruffly bark letting her know I heard her and I run faster hearing the orcs shouts from behind us.

I hear Lilley yelp in pain before feeling arrows whizzing past my head too close for comfort. I feel Lilley starting to fall off and shift back catching her in my arms, running and gasping at the sight of her. She had cuts all over, with an arrow potruding from underneath her ribs. "Mina put me down, I can fight these Bastards" I shake my head.

"No can do kid you're injured." She starts to protest and I drop her, tripping over a stray arrow. We both land painfully and look at our weapons that lie a few feet behind us pointing towards the oncoming orcs. "You said you knew how to use that right?" I look in her direction. She nods. "Good. Cuz I'll be changing forms throughout the fight and I'll need back up." She sadly smiles at me before a look of pure hatred takes over her face. "Let's go Wolfgirl" She says before we both grab our swords and run towards the orcs screaming.
