Drowning

15 1 6

Shot down like
An arrow in the dark.
You don't know when it's coming,
Even when you hear it ringing.

The thing about the rain is that it's pure.
The thing about the rain is that it can kill you.
I guess all good things can hurt you.
The thing about the rain is that it can drown you.

You can feel around in the dark,
Make your way around.
But you're a sitting duck,
In the water filled with piranhas
That you can't see.
It's hopeless.

The thing about the music,
Is that it can stop you from thinking.
And the dangerous thing about thinking,
Is that it can drown you.

The thing about the music,
Is that if it's too loud, it'll break.
You'll break.
So don't play your music too loud.

The thing about words,
Is that they fucking hurt.
Because you could break me,
And I could break you.
And in the end,
"You'll be sorry when I'm gone."
Because I never fucking mattered.
And so I move along.

The thing about time,
Is that you can build your castle,
And build your walls,
But sometimes
With one push,
They all come falling down.
No matter how hard you tried to fix yourself.

You think you get better,
That with all they do wrong,
You get stronger.
But you don't.
You realize that it's your fault.
That they can't tolerate you.

But it's like they want to mess with your head,
They'll say they're sorry,
And say they were joking...
And you'll take them back.
Because after all we're friends.
And that's how you fall.
Because you cared too much about the people who you're supposed to care about.
And them,
Who're supposed to care about you.
