Lydia and Stiles were back to back holding up their bats waiting for their enemy to strike first. They were rotating around in a 360 slowly so they could prevent from any surprise sneak attacks.
"So do you mind telling me what the hell is going on?" Lydia asked a bit louder than necessary. Stiles shushed her. "I may or may not have accidentally put your life in danger." Stiles whispered. Her eyes widened and she stamped on his foot. He winced in pain and held his foot with his hand.
"What the hell Stilinski? What did you do?!" She asked. He glared at her through the poor lighting of the store. He was about to answer her, but the lights began to flicker on and off which distracted him. They both stopped and stared at the ceiling which was their mistake.
When they least expected it, a hand reached over to Lydia's mouth and dragged her towards their chest. Lydia was squealing under the man's large hand. She had dropped her bat in the process. Stiles raised his bat ready to fight.
"Let go of her!" Stiles demanded. The man in the black suit just laughed. "But I love seeing her squeal and you worried. It makes me just fill up with joy seeing you in pain." The man said. He began pulling Lydia's hair which made her close her eyes in pain. "She has nothing to do with this. If there is anyone that deserves to be beat up, it's me." Stiles said. The man didn't seem to move a muscle.
No one saw what was coming next. Lydia kneed the man in the crotch which made him drop to the floor while cupping his crotch in pain. Stiles stared at him for a bit and shook his head. Lydia grabbed her bat and then his hand. "Come on we gotta go!" She said and they began running off into a different side of the store.
While they were running, Stiles smirked at Lydia. "What you did back there was pretty cool." Stiles said. She rolled her eyes and continued running. "Shut up Stilinski I'm mad at you." Lydia said. They hid behind a decades worth of Dorito boxes near the back of the store to take a breath.
"Yeah you deserve an explanation. So basically I haven't paid back my dealer the amount I owe for the past month." Stiles explained. She looked pissed and surprised. "Stiles you do drugs?! That explains why you're eyes are sometimes red in class." She said. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "I only smoke weed every now and then but I wouldn't consider myself a druggie." Stiles said. She rolled her eyes and huffed.
"I can't believe this." She said. She couldn't even look him in the eyes right now. "Yeah I know I know this is really bad. I got this job to pay off the rest of the money, but as you can see their done waiting on me." Stiles said. She didn't say anything to him. "I know you're mad." Stiles said. "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed." Lydia said. Stiles frowned and looked down at the ground in shame.
He always thought that it was worse when someone was disappointed in you than being mad. It feels like you've failed them in some way. The only way he can describe it as is like when you lose a game because you missed the ball, and the whole crowd shakes their heads at you.
Suddenly the boxes they were hiding behind fell on top of them temporarily trapping them under. They began to move the boxes off them to see their culprit. It was a man in black, but he wasn't the same guy from before.
"Couples therapy is over. Now it's time to pay the price Stilinski!" The man said. Stiles and Lydia held their bats firmly rest for impact. Lydia began running, and the man began running after her. "Come back here you shrewd!" The man hollered. Stiles hit the man in the back of the head and knocked him to the ground.
"Nobody calls Lydia names expect for me! And a shrewd isn't even an insulting word!" Stiles kicked the man's head and ran after Lydia. "How many of them are there?" Lydia asked. She soon got her answer when they ended up in the middle of eight men dressed in all black. "Does that answer your question?" Stiles asked. Lydia scoffed.
"So we meet again Stiles." One of the men said. He took off his mask revealing his face.
