A N N A'S   P.O.V

Mia teaching me how to control this, well whatever this came in handy. I was now able to keep track of my family members and follow Mia, it was a weird feeling almost like they were tethered to me, their energy waves ran through me and the best part was it didn't take much to keep then connected to me. They were just simply there.

While Mia was spaced out I felt a slight tug on one of the connections,my family's emotions were mainly gloomy so I assumed someone(probably my mother) was breaking down.

Choosing to not have to see her crying, I ignored it but while Mia was speaking to me the tug got strong and I now knew it wasn't sadness that was being felt, but pure rage mixed with happiness?

Panicking I quickly followed the energy, afraid of the feeling it was emitting.

My "body" appeared in an enclosed Alley, it was still bright out so the alley wasn't as terrifying as it would have been if it were late.

Looking around for the energy source I spot Jake, a couple feet away from me.

Two men shorter than Jake surrounded him, they had him backed up into a corner. Jake's back was  pressed up against a wall. One the of the two men had my brother held by the collar while the other simply slouched next to him, resting his arm on the wall.

I could now see where the anger was coming from, Jake never liked being cornered since all throughout his high school years he was always being jumped by thugs trying to get money off of Jake, he would always come back bruised and it would worry me. He always comforted me by saying

"You should see the other guys. Besides Anna this is good self-defense practice."he would crack the biggest grin and I would slap his shoulder for being so dumb for not letting father have a car pick him up from school so he wouldn't have these confrontations.

So I could clearly see where the anger was coming from but I couldn't tell where the happiness was coming from. But for the first time in a while I could see Jake's gray eyes have a glint to them, and I swore for a second he turned his head towards me, his eyes meeting mine.

Blinking I reappeared next to Mia, but we were no longer in the classroom we were in what I believed was the public library.

"Shit!" All the books that Mia was holding came toppling down, with a loud thud that traveled throughout the library.

"Shhh!" The angry librarian shot a cold glare towards Mia.

A slight pink colored Mia's  cheeks and ears, she quickly picked up the books and made her way towards the end tables.

I simply followed her and took the seat right in front of her.

Holding a book up to her lips she whispered.  "Where did you go?"
"I went to see my brother." It irked me that he seemed at peace with the two men surrounding him.

"What happened?" concern washed over Mia as her brows scrunched up.

"Nothing" I paused  " he's just dealing I guess."  That seemed like a reasonable answer for what I had witnessed.

"Well while you were gone I found something." Mia's eyes light up with excitement and I couldn't help but hope she found something that would help me.

Think I found the perfect person to play Jake, his eyes sealed the deal (;
