Dinner is silent as I don't want to talk to Mom or Dad. They said i'm over-reacting or I am just being dramatic but I don't want to loose my friends. I guess this is the way it has to be but I can't forgive my parents for this.
Near the end of dinner dad tried to strike a conversation. "So how was your first day of school Hailey?" was his attempt to a conversation but when I didn't respond is when he got angry. Yes my dad has a short temper. "I said, how was school today Hailey. You do not disrespect your father like that." He growled in a low voice.
"Mike that's enough. If she doesn't want to talk about it don't force her to." my mom responds to his angry comment. Thank you mom.
Dad has gotten mad at me a couple times before but mom stopped him from ever laying a hand on me. I can tell deep down that he loves me but sometimes he just gets mad.
I was just laying down for bed when mom knocked on the door. "Can I come in?" she asked sounding tired. "Sure mom." I agreed after a second of thinking.
"Hey Hailey I'm sorry your father acted that way it's just that he had a hard day at work and he's tired." she said, hoping I would forgive him. I decided to not stress mom, after she stood up for me. "I know it's okay."
"And Hailey, I know we just moved here but my boss already wants me to go on a buisness trip because he is not a 'take-your-time' kind of guy so tomorrow I leave for my flight and when you come home you will only be here with your father for the 2 weeks. Please don't get your father angry, I won't be here to stop him from doing anything." When she says this I am terrified that she thinks he will do something that drastic.
"I won't mom don't worry, you know I don't mean to." "I know sweetie I'm just telling you to be careful." "Okay I love you mom, goodnight." "I love you too goodnight."
That night is when the nightmares began.
