~CHAPTER 8~

It was all clear to me. I knew I had no feelings for Kyle. All he was to me is a good friend, someone I can trust and rely on. But ever since Heather brought up that idea of Kyle liking me, I felt like the feelings I thought that never existed, rose from the deepest part of my heart.

I showed up at my first period class and saw a girl sitting where Austin used to sit; beside me. I walk up to my seat and politely smile at the girl I've never met before.

"Hey, I'm Katie" she smirked

"Oh hi, I'm J-"

"Jennifer- or Jen," she seemed sure of her answer

"Yeah.. Um how did you-" she cuts me off again

"I've heard about you and everyone practically talks about you,"

I was confused. I wasn't even popular or some sort. How would people in this huge school even know who I am?

"How? I mean, did I do something bad or what?"

"No, nothing like that. Everyone sees you with Kyle all the time. That really attractive guy from Finstone Elementary School. He's really popular but he's also a big time badass, that's why girls are so obsessed with him,"

"Oh.. I never knew that," I don't believe it. "But Kyle seems so different compared to the other guys in this school. He seemed so sweet and-"

"And shy. I know. Everyone said he changed. And we all think it was because of you."

I didn't get it. So he was a troublemaker in elementary school but everything changed in high school and it was because he met me? There must be a way better explanation. I didn't even do anything religious or inspiring that could possibly make Kyle change his whole personality.

"Now that's really funny," It thought it was really stupid for those people to assume that. I couldn't help but laugh.

"It's true. But of course, the only way to find out is to ask him yourself,"

"Ok. If this really matters that much to them, I'll ask him." I sigh

After an hour or so, it was already time for second period. Every five minutes, I'd always turn around and try to ask Kyle about that topic Katie brought up. But it just didn't seem like the perfect time to talk about it. When class ended, Kyle looks at me.

"What's on your mind?" He could probably tell something was bothering me.

"Oh uh I've been meaning to tell you something,"

"And that is?"

"Mmm- I was going to uh- give you your sweater back. And I wanted to say thank you,"

"Ya of course, no problem. And I'll come get it from you later."

"Mmk see ya"

I couldn't bring up that topic. I felt like it wasn't any of my business to interrogate him about his past. I've decided to let it go. For now.

Heather and I walk down the hallway until Michelle and some other popular girls came up to us.

"Jen right?" Michelle asked

"Uh yea?"

"You've probably heard of me but if not, I'm Michelle. Michelle Rinesford," Heather and I give her a strange look "anyways, party at my house this Saturday and I hope you and your friend can make it," she faked a smile

"I'm Heather," she slips herself into the conversation

"That's very nice," she said sarcastically "oh and don't forget to bring your boyfriend. He's invited too,"

"Um I don't have a boyfriend.."

"That hot blonde guy that's always with you? You guys aren't dating?" She looks at me ridiculously

"Kyle? No, we're just friends.."

"Wow, well is he single?"

"I believe so,"

"Ah! Okay make sure he goes to the party. I think it's time we meet."

"Ooookaay.. I'll try."

Michelle flirts with every guy in our grade. But she obviously wants Kyle more than anything. And we all know the drill, queen bee gets whatever she wants. If you get in the way, she will make your life a living hell. The bitch will sting you.
