Chapter 9

Kat Gilbert

It's Thursday morning. I'm at school ready to step into my fourth day of learning. Sitting in my moms car with her about to open my door when my phone rings. I pull it out of my pocket and answer without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello?" I said, while stepping out of the car.

"Hey Kat!" A familiar female voice said. "It's Halley!"

"Hey girl! Whats up?" I slammed the car door close while waving goodbye to my mom.

"Nothing much. I know it's early and all but I just wanted to know how it was way up north!" Halley encountered.

"It's not that cold." I said. But I still felt the crisp chill fall air that you usually felt lat November. "How about, I call you this afternoon and I'll tell you everything that has happened. Deal?"

"Sure! I know your probably at school so just go learn and we'll talk later." We said our goodbyes an I headed inside the brick building. I spotted Damon outside with the group of people I met yesterday hanging out.

Ethan and Vanessa were holding hands and talking while Zander and Leigh kissed in the background. I didn't think much of them until Cassie called me over. Her brown and blonde hair was pulled up into a cheerleaders ponytail and her glasses sat on the tip of her nose.

I walked over there to be greeted in a hug by Damon. It surprised me. I waved my hellos to the group and noticed Leigh was pink in the cheeks by being caught lip-locked with Zander by me.

"Hey Kat." Jake nodded. His black hair was all over his head. Sticking up and he had a cowlick.

"Hey Jake." I greeted.

I wasn't that surprised when Damon pulled me away from the group to talk.

"How was your first day at work in my house?" he asked with a smug filled grin.

"It was fine. Georgia seems really nice." I told him.

We chatted for a couple minutes till the bell rang.

That Thursday was so boring. I did absolutely nothing. I sat with Damon and everybody else at lunch again.

I couldn't wait to get home and finish my homework then go to sleep. I was tired. I got there and saw my mom sitting at the kitchen table with someone in a sharp, business suit. His hair was dark and cut short.

"Hey Mom. Whose this?" I asked. I pointed my finger at him to indicate.

"Kat, this is Daniel. Daniel, this is my daughter Kat." She said. I now knew his name but I was still asking myself, who is he??

"Hi Kat!" he greeted while holding out his hand for me to shake. I took it in mine and shook my wrist. "I work for the bank and I heard you and your mom moved to this town and need money. There is a place open at my bank if your mom would like to take the job."

I turned to my mom with wide eyes. She nodded her head with a grin on her face. The ends of my mouth instantly turned up into a huge smile.

"That's great!" I exclaimed. "Mom, you gotta take it!"

"I need to hear the details first, Hun." She replied.

After that, she told me to head to my room and do my homework. I did a she told me and finished my homework in thirty minutes.

It was Thursday and the party was tomorrow. I'm suppose to go to the party with Jace but I haven't talked to him about it since I rejected him. I was going to talk to him today after school but decided that my mom would be worried if I didn't get home in time.

'One final fight, for this tonight. Whoa. With knives and pens, we mad our-' My phone started singing Knives And Pens by Black Veil Brides, indicating I had an incoming call.

"Hello?" I asked once I picked up my phone.

"Hey Kat!" A familiar male voice said on the other end.

"Hi..." I replied, still not fully sure who it was. But they knew my name.

"It's Damon." That helped! "I know tomorrow you have to work and its that big party so I talked to my mom and she said that you can take off tomorrow to go to the party. Since you just moved to town and you don't have a lot of friends I talked her into letting you go! isn't that great?"

"Awesome!" I replied. But in my mind it was all like, oh shit.

We hung up after that and he left me with a jumbled up mind. Should I go and be with Jace like I wanted to in the first place or should I just say I was sick and ditch? Jace asked me to go and I already said yes. Damon might be going so if I was going to go at all that would be a good reason, right? But what if I see Jace there? I was so confused. I couldn't think straight.

Only one person would know what to do.

I AM SOOOOOOOOOO SORRY FOR THE SUUUUPPPPEEEERRRR LONG WAIT!!!!!! I had the biggest case of writers block and something popped up.

Also, sorry for such a short chapter. Mostly a filler chapter.
