Chapter 10
Kat
"I told you never to call me." Callum said after the third time dialing his number and getting voicemail. When he finally answered, I didn't know what to start with.
"Well sorry." I said. "Didn't know that you would still be mad at me."
"Whatever," He replied. "What do you want?"
"I need help." I started telling him everything that has happened since I moved to this town, replaying it in my head. As the story went from my mouth through the phone line, Callum listened and didn't say anything. He stayed quiet. When I finished, he took a moment to speak.
"Wow. Sounds like your in trouble." Was his first response.
"Shut up." I said. "Just help me figure out what to do!"
"First, is that Damon guy going to be at the party?"
"Yeah. I think so. Let me text him." I pushed the hold button on my phone and went to my messages.
To: Damon
Are you going to the party tomorrow..?
I waited for a moment before my phone beeped.
From: Damon
No. Don't feel like it.
After that was figured out, I continued my call with Callum.
"Nope." I answered his question.
"That makes it complicated. Why does he let you go but not go himself?" Callum wondered. We were both trying to figure this out.
"Maybe I'm just over thinking this entire thing." I decided. "My reason for going to the party can be to make new friends. Not hang out with Jace. I'm sure there are going to be lots of people there. And I can't spend my week sulking around in my room. I'm going to that party!"
"Um, okay. If that's what you want." Callum stuttered, surprised by my sudden mood swing.
We hung up shortly afterward, leaving me with my thoughts. Am I ready to do this? Of course. What other option do I have? lie? I could but I've always been the worst liar ever.
Quit over thinking, I told myself. You're going.

Friday after school I went strait to my room without acknowledging my mom watching TV in the living room. I went into my closet and started digging through my clothes to find something nice to wear to the party.
I went with a simple lace black shirt with some skinny jeans and boots. Simple. But stylish. After taking a shower, finishing my makeup, and packing my purse, I walked out my room to be greeted by my mother.
"Hey mom." I said. "What's up?"
"I- where are you going all dressed up?" She replied.
"I was invited to a party and I thought it was a good way to make friends." My mom and I always had a good relationship. I tell her everything.
"Oh okay. Just want to talk to you. I got the job at the bank. I'll be working a lot the next couple days so you'll be home alone." She said.
"Okay. That's fine." I replied. We said goodbye and as I left, I wondered if this was a good idea. After convincing myself that I could do it, I step outside.
What could go wrong?
