"GARNET!" Steven shrieked as he stumbled down the steps from where his bed was. He tripped on the last stair and landed with a thud on the wood floor.
"Ow. GARNET!"
He scrambled from the floor and ran to the temple door when the doors opened themselves and there stood the tall gem.
"Yes, Steven."
He was so overwhelmed with joy, he threw himself at her and she was caught by surprise. She let a low chuckle escape and gladly picked up her heart and soul in her arms.
"Garnet?"
"Yes, Steven?"
"I LOVVVVEE YOU!!"
Garnet let out a series of giggles she allowed when only Steven was around. They manically laughed and held each other close.
"Oh, Steven," Garnet said, drawing out the last syllable. It sent chills down his spine.
"I love you, too."
Man, how he adored the gems. But Garnet had a warmth in her hugs and radiating from her body that none of the other gems had. She had a deeper understanding of his feelings, especially of love. She was made from it, after all.
"So, Steven... What's going on?" She asked, backing away to look him in the eyes. Steven shifted, a little nervous. Then an idea came to him.
"I want to see you," he said innocently. Steven reached up, still shorter than Garnet when she was kneeling, and carefully removed her visors.
She felt the gentle trailing of his soft little finger tips as her eye protection was off. He stared at her with awe and adoration. Her cerulean, ruby, and violaceous eyes smiled at him along with her full lips.
"They're so beautiful," he marveled.
Garnet once again chuckled in her sultry way. She touched his cheek and cupped his jaw bone.
"Thank you ," she whispered.
Steven once again felt an electric jolt, when she touched him. And her warm breath tickled his nose.
"You've seen my eyes before, Steven. What is the matter?"
Caught. Steven sheepishly grabbed her soft hand and led her to the couch. She sat beside him, a bit of confusion marred her magenta face, but concern was mostly noticeable.
"I..." He started, but was at a loss for words. Why was it all of a sudden so hard to talk to the gem he's spilled his troubles out to, his entire life? What was going on today?
Steven reminisced and stalled by feeling the Ruby gem in her hand. He absentmindedly caressed it while trying to figure out what to say. She was in his company, and that's all that seemed to matter now.
He didn't noticed her alert expression while he gently drew circles around her gem and palm. Her three eyes narrowed in worry. His small chubby fingers had now found her knuckles and he began to rub them lovingly and massage her skin where the fabric of her glove met.
"Steven, are you alright?"
Steven snapped his hand away in shock and realization dawned on him at what he'd been doing.
"Whoa! Sorry! I don't know what I was doing."
Garnet felt a discovery course through her. Being made of love, she knew it when she saw it, and she knew it when she felt it.
