"See ya loser!" Kayla waved winking at me as I sat in the couch with nothing to do this weekend. These two weeks were among the slowest I had ever lived through.
My friends had been hanging out all the while I was stuck in my own house grounded. I was going insane and couldn't take one more minute of house arrest. Not only had I added two more days to my 2 weeks already but I was now going crazy with no one to talk to. I had no outlet for my emotions since every time I tried to release the pressure my mom would add another day onto the two weeks.
Sitting on the couch and staring at the ceiling my mind circulated with different things I could do. What I would give to text Blair and have her come over right about now. Tilting my head back up I saw the pool water rippling from the landscapers cleaning it out. Since I had nothing better to do I might as well take a swim.
Hoping up off the couch I headed to my bedroom to grab my swimsuit. The house was quiet now that my mom had gone out for her monthly brunch with her plastic friends. Opening up my swimsuit drawer I saw all of them had been taken from my drawers. Sighing deeply I went down the hall where I heard my father on the phone.
About to knock and open my mouth to ask him where my mom had taken my swimwear I refrained once I heard the conversation he was having.
"Kendall is on house arrest.... I'm sorry I just can't today." I furrowed my brow to what he was saying.
"I told you I would see you on Sunday. You know where I'll be." My dad continued talking into the phone. Putting a hand over my mouth that was gaping open I realized that my dad was supposed to be on a business trip on Sunday.
The oxygen was being sucked from my lungs as I heard him talk to this unknown person. "I've missed you.... I love you too. See you on Sunday." He said ending the call as I hurried away from the door and scurried off back into my bedroom.
Pacing around my room I tried to grasp onto what I had just overheard. Did I just pretend I didn't hear it? Did I tell someone? Maybe it wasn't even what I thought but, there was a 89 percent chance it was what I thought. My dad was cheating on my mom.
"Hey Ken, are you alright?" My dad knocked on my door before peeking in to see me pacing with my hands running through my hair.
"Dad?" I asked bringing my gaze up to him. I needed to throw up all this emotion and questioning.
"Yes sweet pea?" He answered.
"Do you know where my swimsuits are? I wanted to go layout by the pool." I told him refraining from asking him what I really wanted to know. I couldn't keep this all to myself but I had no other choice.
"Oh I think I saw one in the laundry room." He smiled as I returned a weak one back.
"Thanks dad." I said dropping my smile as I walked past him and began to make my way to the laundry room.
I was living in a dollhouse but nothing was perfect about it. My father was having an affair, my sister was struggling with needing attention, I was begging to be accepted and cared for, and my mother was a controlling monster. The cheater, the monster, the attention whore, and the rebel.

Standing at the edge of the pool I stared down into the body of water. Letting the reflection of the water dance over my face, finally taking a leap into the water. Letting the water swallow me up and engulf me while my thoughts seemed to explode when I held my breath. Closing my eyes and sinking to the bottom of the pool I sat for several minutes before I let out a scream on the bottom of the pool floor.
Releasing all my built up emotions I began to scream until my air ran out. Swimming to the top of the surface I gasped for a breath and wiped the water from my eyes. Locating the floating device I had thrown in I climbed on top of it and laid staring up at the sunny sky with a blank expression. I was so alone now more then ever with no where to go. I was to keep to myself. The only other person I could say anything to was Kayla though I doubted she would even listen to me or much less care at all.
Putting my hands into the water I let myself float for a few hours. Closing my eyes and feeling the water trickle and flow beneath me. It was the only thing bringing me a peace of mind.
Jolting up when I heard the lawn mower start up I turned to see a boy about my age mowing the lawn. His skin was nicely tanned as he moved with the lawn mower across the grassy areas. Tattoos colored over his arms and hands as he exposed them. A colored in heart tattoo sitting on his hip as he moved sides, his dark black hair quaffed up and out of his face.
Catching his eye I gave him a little smile to convey that he had also caught my eye. Floating to the stairs of the pool to get out and lay on the tanning chairs I saw him finish the small patch of grass he was mowing.
"I think you missed a spot." I teased once the lawn mower was turned off and he moved over to weeding out flower bed. Turning over to overlook his work he shook his head and smiled with his pearly white teeth.
"You're funny." He said bending down to begin picking out weeds from our flower garden.
"What's your name?" I asked the boy who I found extremely attractive as sweat ran down his brow from the hot temperature outside.
"Zayn, you must be Kayla?" I asked with squinted eyes as if he were completely confident in his answer.
"Close, I'm Kendall, Kayla is my younger sister."
"Well it's nice to meet you Kendall, Kayla's younger sister." He said causing me to giggle from him one being cute and two being nervous talking to a cute guy like him.
"I've never noticed you here before, are you new?" I asked him as he still picked at weeds in the flower beds.
"I started last week." He answered as I watched his muscles contract each time he moved his arms.
"How old are you? Do you go to North High?" I questioned wanting to get to know Zayn a little better. Maybe he was just what I needed to help me get through this next week.
"No I'm 19. I'm graduated already, I assume you attend North though." Zayn said as he stood up and moved onto the next flower bed.
"Yeah, I'm 18. I guess we will be seeing a lot of each other."
"How so?" Zayn asked not moving his gaze to mine.
"Well considering you work for my mother and I'm grounded for the next week, I'm sure we will get to know each other pretty well." I told him sitting up and crossing my legs Indian style.
"Grounded yeah?" Zayn seemed to chuckle when I told him of my unfortunate event.
"Unfortunately yes, it's a long story." I sighed out looking over at the pool where my pink blow up raft sat floating.
"Well like you said, it looks like we will be getting to know each other pretty well with all your spare time." Zayn said looking at me with another smile that nearly had me melting.
"Well it all started with a phone call..." I began to tell him the great tale of Harry and I's arrest upon the Golden Gate Bridge.
note// K's life is truly crazy! What would you do honestly if you suspected your dad was cheating? And what do you think about Zayn's appearance?
