[wooo, this is the last official chapter. I have the epilogue left to write after this, have fun, I did love to write this truly, however, I might make a 2nd book, with much less drama, because I loved this and I don't really want to let it go. And all I ask is, play the song before you start reading]
Raine's POV
I heard a slow beep beep beep of a heart monitor. I opened my eyes and looked around. I was in the hospitial, with Dave, HUMAN Sollux, Rose, Bro, and my adopted parents. They were all sleeping but Bro. Sollux had a book in his hands, flipped open to the last page, where the girl died from the evil villian, and her friends had fleed.
"Bro," I croaked. His head whipped up and he walked over and hugged me.
"I've never been so fucking happy to see your face kid," he said. "Sis..." I said. "Huh?" He raised an eyebrow. "I'm your younger sister aren't I?" I asked.
He nodded, looking away. "You were listening to us then," he said. "Yeahhh," I nodded. Rose shifted and looked up. She smiled with pure excitement, and leaned over and brushed the hair out of my face, "Hey Raine,"
I smiled and nodded. "Hey Rose, how long was I out?" I asked. "A year..." She said softly.
My eyes widened. I had left them for a year. I pulled both Bro and Rose into a hug, blinking back tears. "Sorry for leaving."
I heard a voice. "It wathn't your fault but mine anyway, tho don't apologize." They backed up and there was Sollux, rubbing his arm. I pulled him closer. "Hey Sollux, want to know something?" His face flushed a faint red. Sure, I was dating Dave beforehand, but well, he's my brother, that is just weird. "Thure?" "I love you," I kissed him.
He kissed back and I heard a voice. "Oh you are awake." I pulled back and saw Dave. I nodded at him. "Hey dude," I said. The last two people in the room were already awake. "Mrs. Kirkland? Are you alright?" Rose asked.
Mom nodded and smiled, walking over and hugging me, "I'm so glad you are alright," she started tearing up. "You've been gone for so long..." she trailed off. I hugged back, and I pulled myself up all the way, feeling all cramped up.
Dad came over and gave me a brief hug before stepping back, he was a little on the quiet side, and even if I had model parents, I still came out as a awful child. I glanced over at the clock, seeing that it was 12:42 A.M.
November 3, 2013.
I had missed my birthday, I was now 18, and free to go where I pleased. A nurse walked in and smiled, "Miss Kirkland, you are up!" she said in surprise, smiling. I nodded, and she rushed back in with a doctor who began checking up on me.
Afterwards, I was allowed to get up and walk around. I was a few inches taller, and my hair was much longer than I remembered. My old shades laid there next to the clothes they had picked out for me. I stared at them for a second before leaving them, smiling.
I walked back out of the room, in a Vitamin String Quartet shirt, one that I had gotten a while back. It was a little bit tighter, and smaller than I remembered, but well I grew.
I remembered my dream and smiled. Was it really a dream?
I wasn't sure, nor would I ever, it seemed so realistic.
Later on that day, I was allowed to leave. I got to my house, but I decided to leave. "Guys, let's go" I said to Rose, Dave, and Sollux, who hadn't left my side.
The rest of the crew didn't know I was back...and we would keep it that way till the movies.
I had gotten a new house in the matter of a few hours, the biggest house, that's what I got. My parents were loaded anyway, they wouldn't care.
Everyone in the group was allowed to move in, and Rose and Dave already had their own rooms...When I say I got the biggest house, I meant it, it was a dormitory. Sollux decided to get the one next to mine, not that it mattered, he'd probablly end up being in mine constantly.
We got to the movies before everyone. Rose, Dave, and Sollux were sitting in a triangle with me in the center. They all arrived at the same time. "CAN WE JUST HURRY UP ALREADY?" "No, calm down Karkat," Feferi said.
"Sup," Dave said. Karkat peered in the triangle, and saw me, eyes widening. I launched myself at him, smiling.
Everyone else screamed. Feferi and Nepeta hugged me, Terezi sniffed the air, curious as to what happened. "Raine!" Gamzee said, picking me up and squishing me to death in his bear hug.
"Hey...Gamzee" I said. He set me down when Sollux started growling.
"Let's watch the movie." I kissed Sollux, much to everyone's surprise.
We watched the movie and afterwards I invited everyone to my house...to which they all said yes.
"Guys, I really did miss you all" I smiled, Sollux's arms wrapped around my waist from behind. The sun was going down and everyone was going back to the cars. "OH WELL, WE HAD TIME TO WAIT," I waved at them, torn with such a sorrow when we all parted ways. School was over, soon everyone would get their own house, get married, and leave...I missed an entire year with them, that I would have to make up. I wanted to experience it to the fullest, because who knows when you are going to die. Who knows when the last goodbye will happen? And if you never tell the one you love the truth, if you never express your feelings and live to the fullest, you never will.
So this was the story of my dream, this was the story of how I fell not in love with my brother, but how I lived a life I didn't own.
A story based on a coma dream, and afterwards. A dream that who knows? Maybe it was a different universe, and maybe, just maybe, they are out there, dreaming of our universe, saying that we are a coma dream.
So whatever happens tomorrow, I'm ready for, because the worst has happened, and we only can improve from that.
