20. It All Gets Better

Raine's POV 

Normally, when there is a serial killer, they get caught in the first two days, right? Well that's what Im hoping for. 

Sollux was holding my hand trying to comfort me, even though I wasn't doing anything. 

Well, I was breathing and blinking and thinking, but that's it. 

I shifted over and looked at him. I motioned for paper and a pen, and he obliged, taking it out of his back pocket.  

Yesterday was okay, Sollux gave me the smoothie and hugged me, saying he would always protect me from now on. 

I took it and wrote,"Can you get real food?" 

"You'll be thafe alone?" 

'I'm in a hospital...I'm fine' 

He smiled and got up, "Riight, I'll be back thoon" 

I smiled and laid my head back, really I just wanted to be left alone.  

I don't know how I manage to stay up all day, I nearly passed out yesterday and today I was exhausted. 

I closed my eyes and shifted, cuddling into the blankets.  

I soon fell asleep only to have a nap with no dreams nor nightmares, which terrified me more than having one. 

I heard something and felt someone playing with my hair. I froze and laid there, unsure of who it was. 

"It's okay, I've got you." I heard a voice I could recognize anywhere. Dave was back. 

I smiled and rested in his lap, since I guess he had taken me out of bed. 

Thank God I asked to wear normal clothes, or else I would have flipped my shit. 

The door silently opened and someone walked in, almost silent if not for the squeak of their shoes. "What are you doing here?" Sollux growled. 

"I came to see her, but she's asleep." 

"I thought I told you to get lotht." 

He ignored the statement, "Have you seen her face?"  

Sollux sighed, and I guess crossed his arms, because I heard a bag crinkle. 

"No." 

"She's hiding the pain, it's bad, the wound isn't deep but it just has been a couple days now and it's still bleeding."  

It was?...I didn't even now that.I gripped Dave's arm and looked at him, causing Dave to turn his head to me.  

He sighed, "Sorry, I had to see how much pain you were in." He kissed my head. I silently sighed and got up, stretching.  

I didn't have any needles in my arm, I didn't need an IV, so I could roam wherever. I sat on a guest bed and frowned at Dave, did he get that I didn't want anyone to see for that reason? 

Sollux looked uneasily at me, "Ith it that bad?" 

I barely nodded and pulled my legs up to my chest, wrapping my arms around my legs.  

Sollux hugged me and handed me the food, "I'll leave you two alone..." 

I smiled at him and waved. He walked out of the room and Dave sat next to me, silent for a few moments. 

"Sorry." 

I looked at him full of confusion and mouthed, 'Why?' 

"For getting you hurt..." he picked me up.  

I would have squeaked...if I could.  

He caressed my face and I let him. I wasn't sure if to allow him to, but when he leaned in and pressed his lips gently against mine, I found myself kissing back. 

A blush spread across my face and I cupped his face, and he propped me up on his leg and wrapped his arms around me. 

I smiled weakly and he smiled back. He leaned back and I bit my lip, trying to hide the crimson blush on my face. He tilted my head up, "You don't have to hide it, you're still gorgeous"  

I smiled and laid in the crook of his neck. 

He picked me up and laid on my bed.  

I closed my eyes and smiled, glancing at him before closing my eyes again. 

He rubbed my back and hummed a song, causing me to fall asleep.
