Impressing Her.

It all started with Percy realising that he was in love with his demigod best friend.

Annabeth Chase.

That name made him go all fan-girling and stuff. He was high. Not on drugs or anything. He was high on her.

Percy had even talked to an Aphrodite child, desperate for advice. She had squealed and said two words that made Annabeth a bigger mission than Kronos.

"Impress her!"

At that time, he'd thought: Pshh. Impress her? Easy!

Now he knew that it was not easy because he didn't have any plans or ways to make her fall for him. He had asked his best friend Grover for advice. Grover told him: "How about you give her a specific time to come meet you at the sword arena. You can come, like, fifteen minutes before her and then slash the dummies. Your shirt'll be all clinging to your body and she'll see your muscles. That's step one!"

He had done it, and when she had arrived, he could've sword she had blushed lightly. He'd made small talk, before she told him to go take a shower because he smelled like rotten eggs. Half-fail, Half-pass.

Step two? Grover didn't have one. ("I-I...Oh, I remember. Juniper wanted to meet me! Sorry man.")

Now it was up to him to complete this task. He had considered being straight forward. Bring her flowers and a box of chocolate, confess his feelings and then get the result. But again, he was sure he would become a spluttering idiot.

Tyson had been the first to ask him. "Percy, you like Annabeth, do you not?" It had been breakfast time and he had been drinking blue coke, so naturally, he spit it out everywhere.

The looks he had gotten had been very embarassing.

For a distraction, Percy decided to climb the Lava Wall. It was a misktake, because Mr. D had let the rain fall in the camp this time. The rocks were really slippery, but he didn't give up. Halfway through, a voice called out to him. "Percy!"

Annabeth stood below, looking at him. He felt his stomach flip, and almost fell off and into the sizzling lava beneath. "Be careful!", Annabeth yelled. "Go on! Climb the lava wall and then come down! I want to talk to you!"

Gods. This was the perfect chance to impress her! He wouldn't miss the golden chance. "Here goes nothing", he muttered to himself. "Okay!", he then yelled to her.

He climbed, higher and increased his pace. He was almost at the top, when he looked at her and climbed simultaneously. A look of horror crossed Annabeth's face. "Look out!", she yelled.

Too late he realised what she said. A missing handhold was where he tried to grab. The shock mixed with everything being slippery made him lose his grip on everything and fall.

The last thing Percy heard was Annabeth. "Percy!"

The last thing he thought was :I am an idiot.

He hit the lava.

"Hey. Man, I'm wondering if Percy will ever wake up. It's been a month!", Will Solace said. That was the first thing Percy heard when he woke up.

"Shh!", Nico Di Angelo replied. "He'll be okay. This is Percy Jackson we're talking about."

"You're right. But if this doesn't kill him, then Annabeth definetly will."

"You're right.", Nico agreed.

Percy opened one eye. That movement was enough to make Nico look at him. A look of relief passed over his face, then went back to it's usual grumpy expression in a moment. "Look, sunshine. He's awake.", he addressed Will.

Will chuckled. "Hey, Percy. Glad to see you up and about." Percy rolled his- now both open- eyes. "I'm just up, Will. Not about", he said, his voice rusty from disuse.

Just then, the door of the Infirmary barged open. "Will, I was won-". Annabeth Chase stopped midway the sentence when she saw him.

A murderous look appeared on her face.

"Yo, Annabeth", Will said way too quickly. "He just woke up. I'll give you guys some time." He grabbed Nico's arm and dragged him out.

Once there was no one inside, Annabeth sat on the edge of his bed. She stared at him. He stared back.

Finally, tired of the silence, he cleared his throat and tried to get in a sitting position. Pain shot through his body and he winced. Annabeth set a hand on his shoulder. "Stay still. You're hurt."

"Thanks. I noticed." Anger flared in her eyes. "Don't you dare be sarcastic with me after nearly dying. Again."

Guilt flooded through him. "Sorry", he mumbled.

"A simple 'sorry' dosen't cover it, Percy! I thought-", her voice softened. "I thought I lost you. It's been a month. They healed you, so there are no burn marks on you. But it'll hurt for a few days."

Percy lifted an arm, even though it hurt like Tartarus, and wiped his thumb under her eye. Had she been crying? She took his hand in her own and caressed it.

"You were trying to impress me, weren't you?", she asked afted a while, the corners of her mouth twitching. His heart lept.

"No", he squeaked, then regained his confidence. "No way I would try to impress you, Annabeth. I mean, you're already impressed by awesomely built body and handsome looks." He winked at her and she blushed.

"Ha ha.", she muttered. Percy raised an eyebrow. "So you were impressed, weren't you?"

"I so wasn't!", she retorted. He looked at their intertwined hands and a question popped up in his mind. Maybe it would finish their friendship.

"Um... I-I have something to ask you.", he stammered to her. She smirked as if she knew what exactly was coming, but nodded her head in a silent urge to go on.

"Wouldyouliketogooutwithme?". The question was rushed, and she frowned- though Percy had a feeling she understood everything. "Sorry?"

"Would you like to go out with me?", he asked again, slowly and carefully. Annabeth looked at him, a little smile on her lips. "Finally", she groaned. "It only took you five years to ask, Seaweed Brain!"

He gasped mockingly. "Are you shamelessly admitting that you have liked me for so long? Oh, times have changed!"

She put a hand on her chin in a thinking gesture. "I'm not sure about the liking part. Meet me at the beach when you're completely healed. Then we'll see."

He just smiled.

So here goes another update. I just finished the novel Illuminae. It was Sci-Fi, but it was so unique. Can't wait for the next part tho.
