A major part of any movie or show is the friends of the main character. In Twilight Bellas friends are not Jessica Mike Angela or the other guy who's name I forgot immediately. Those are not friends. I guess you could say alice is her friend, but they never do any activities together. They are always accompanied by their lovers. See because this story is about obsession Bella has no real friends. Actually she has Jacob, but that's it. It must have gotten weird when he imprinted on her daughter. Anyway, She has no life outside of Edward.
In Btvs Buffy has friends who care about her. These friends do something besides stand around and look pretty. She has her friend Willow who is a witch. This fact helps move the plot along and makes episodes more interesting. For example in something blue a spell Willow does goes wrong causing Giles to go blind, Xander to attract demons, and spike and Buffy to get married. (keep in mind this was before spike loved Buffy.) Then we have Xander who helps Buffy as much as he can and also provides needed humor. We also have Giles who provides Buffy with guidance, but is also a friend. They are all able to joke with each other.
