Diablo (DO NOT READ, UNDER REVISION)

Chapter 23

Meadow is being looked at by the vet today. He's going to determine if she will ever be ride able. I take her on to the crossties and impatiently wait for the vet to arrive. When he does: he removes her cast, quickly examines her leg and puts another bandage on her.

"She's very healthy and will be okay to ride in a month or two." he says. I sigh in relief. I put Meadow in her stall and quickly do her mane into a running braid. It's messy, but I'm not looking for perfection.

Ally taps my shoulder to remind me to help her clan stalls. I grab a pitch fork and begin, working my way down the barn. Even though Ally was supposed to do half later, I ended up doing all of the stalls.

I wipe sweat off of my forehead and go to see Diablo. I still can't remember why he spooked on the trail, but I probably wasn't his fault. The doctor said that I'm aloud to ride in three days. That just might give me enough time to train for the dressage cpmetition.

Of course it has to be secretly. Linda will not let me ride him, but I know that he will be just fine. I take Diablo out and bring him onto the crossties. I take my brushes and brush all of the dirt of of his midnight black coat.

After brushing his mane, I put it in to a thick and long running braid. When I'm finished, I look over and see Derek. Great. Do I have to talk to him? I mean, he did find me on that trail. Before I know it, he comes over to me.

"Hey." he awkwardly says, "I see you back from the hospital." No duh.

"Yea. I'll be able to ride in a few days." I reply. trying to make small talk. He nods, then turns away to get his horse. I try to figure out what else to say to him.

"Derek..." I star, just before he turns around, "Thank you."

-----------------Two hours later-------------

I crash into my bed. This month has been a mess. I pick up my phone and try to call Shaylin. No answer, of course. She won't even come out to see Eclipse Dancer. Something is very, very wrong.

I hate not being able to fix things. I take a deep breath and close my eyes. I remember riding Diablo down the trail, then I don't remember anything but falling off. Everything just isn't right. I need to fix it all.

A/N

Heyoooooooooooo. This was a bit of a filler chapter, but the next few chapters will be a bit more action packed. I hope that you liked this chapter. I estimate that there will be about five more chapters in this book, then I'll start on writing the next book. Also, once I finish What Is Love and High Hopes, I'll publish three new books. I've started on them, but thy're not published yet.
