Latch was still trying to grasp the situation. Memories were still flooding back to him like waves on a beach never ending. He passed out and hit a stone while falling, putting a large wound on the side of his head. He tries to stand but fails. He is dazed, immobile and angry. Angry for what this man has done. Angry for what this man has taken from him. He closes his eyes. The same memory over and over again plays. Jays dying breath. Why did the town turn on him so easily? It doesn't make sense. Something was wrong with everything everyone, he just didn't know what. Had they always hated him? He didn't understand. It doesn't make sense. Why has he lost so much and gained so little?
