You put your hand into the basket and felt around. Everything felt boring and didn't catch your attention. As you put your hand further into the basket, something soft caught your attention at last. You gently picked it up with your index finger and thumb and pulled it out, doing your best not to break it.
"A feather." You said, scanning the room for whoever put the odd object in. Bertholdt stood up and cleared his throat.
"Yeah, I had nothing to put in so I put whatever I found outside." He smirked.
You laughed a little and stood up too, skipping over to the office door. He opened it and you smiled at him, hopping into the room. After he closed the door, you turned to face him.
"So, are you glad that you chose to be in the survey corps?" You asked him.
He nodded. "Yes I am."
"Why'd you not want to at first?" You quizzed him.
"Well, I thought I'd be safe inside the walls." He smiled nervously and scratched the back of his neck. "But I guessed that that just made me a coward."
"You're not a coward! You just helped to find out some crucial information about the titans!" You leaped forward and tackled him into a hug, nearly strangling him.
"I'm lucky I did choose the survey corps; now I can protect what I care for the most." He hugged back, blushing light pink.
"That's nice to hear." You smiled up at him. He blushed brighter as you both disconnected from the hug. You reached up and tucked the feather above his ear.
You were about to turn and skip away, but Bertholdt grabbed your wrist. "I don't think you understand."
"Huh? What do you mean?" You asked him, tilting your head inquisitively to the side.
He pulled you into another hug and stepped your hair. You blushed and lightly gripped into the fabric in his chest. He kissed the top of your head.
"You're what I care for the most." He admitted as you looked up at him.
"R-Really?" You raised an eyebrow and ignored the ferocious blush on your face.
He nodded and blushed too. "You changed my mind, (Y/N). I'm extremely happy you did." He kissed your forehead.
"B-Bertholdt..." You whispered, completely unsure of what to say. He smiled and bent a little lower.
He connected your lips lovingly and his hands moved to cup your face. You felt your heart beat harder and harder, faster and faster to the point that you thought it was going to explode.
When he pulled back, you looked down at the floor in embarrassment. He chuckled and bent down into the crook of your neck.
"I... I love you, (Y/N)." He whispered against your skin. You smiled.
"I love you too, Bertholdt." You giggled. He laughed and gave you another quick kiss.
"Hange! No more!" Levi shouted across the C. Room. You both could hear crashing and drunken laughter.
"I think we should go out there before Hange gets too drunk." Bertholdt said as he held your hand and opened the door. You were both greeted by the sight of upturned chairs and an insanely laughing titan-obsessed female doing -extremely bad- ballet moved on the table.
Levi leaned over the table and grabbed her leg, throwing it above her head. She squealed slightly and fell on the table with a heavy thud.
"I think it's a bit too late for that." You laughed.
"Woah, are you two together?!" Reiner exclaimed, making every one shut up and look over at you.
Bertholdt looked down at you and kissed you. When he broke the kiss, he looked back at Reiner. "We are."
