CHAPTER 2
George's POV:"Oi! Fred, George, mum says dinner is done!" (R)
"I swear it's like she knows when we're working on something for the joke shop up here."(F)
"I know just what you mean." (G)
"Well let's go then." (G&F)
I feel myself follow Fred downstairs thinking of the extendable ear device we're working on, as well as Kat. If it's not the joke shop on my mind these days, it's her. It's only been a little over a week but I haven't heard from her yet. Fred and I take our seats at the table just as Dad walks in. We look and wave before going back to our food but I feel myself do a double take as I see what he's holding. It's Moonlight, but Kat isn't with him.
"Dad, why do you have Moonlight? Why isn't she with Kat?"
"I imagine it's all in the letter."
I go to ask what letter but he hands it to me before I can. I take it just as Moonlight jumps out of dad's arms on up to my shoulder, purring against my neck as she does. I open the letter and read it and I'm confused, worried, and angry at the same time. I look up at Dad and he sends a guilty look to Mum who just shakes her head no.
"Dad, where is Katherine really?"
"George, all I can tell you is that she is doing something for the Order. No one knows what exactly except her and Dumbledore."
I feel myself freeze in my seat as I realize that this is Kat's goodbye letter should something happen. I push my chair away from the table and walk out into the garden with Moonlight still on my shoulder. I walk out into the field and up to the old oak tree just at the edge of the woods. I reread the letter to see if she gives any hint as to where she's going but she doesn't. I hear Moonlight cry softly on my shoulder and I know she's missing Kat just as much as I am right now. I lean up against the tree and stare at the sky as the stars start to appear.
"Katherine, as soon as I have you back in my arms I'll kill you for this I swear. I miss you. I love you too."
K POV:
I swear that if I ever do fine Aleric I'll kill him for putting his castle and his clan in the middle of nowhere. I've been wandering around this stupid forest, up and over all the dumb mountains, for the past four days and I haven't even crossed a scent of them yet. I find myself climbing another mountain and I feel drained physically, emotionally, and mentally. The stupid half-moon is rising in the sky but as this point I'll be good to go seeing as how I'm still in the forest.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
I watch as some birds that were in a tree near me take flight and I can't help but smirk some as I let off some frustration in my scream. I take a deep breath as I stop mid-way up the mountain and then I freeze. The breeze coming from behind me, I can just barely smell it but it's there. It's a faint smell of death mixed with daisies. Well guess I didn't need to find the vampires, one of them seem to have found me. I get my wand ready as I vamp out and spin around to face the vampire.
It didn't go exactly as I expected it to go. It was girl, maybe only a few years older than me but you could tell she was older than what she looked. Her eyes, black as the night sky, told me she had seen a lot and lived through a lot. I kept my wand at the ready as I stared back at her.
"Hello Dhampir, my name is Eliza. I'm here to escort you to the castle to meet with Aleric. He's been expecting you, but we were unsure when you would cross into our territory. You crossed this morning, but I was unable to come until now."
