Kat's POV:
Turns out we didn't take the train to get back to school, but the magical triple decker bus they use here. I won't lie, I'm all for a new adventure or way to travel. But the bus ride was quite possibly the worst thing I've ever had to do as far as travel goes. All of us must have landed on the ground at least five times, and by the time we got to Hogsmeade I was more nauseous than I thought possible.
The first day back in class wasn't too bad, if Defense class with the High Inquisitor wasn't taken into account. Because she is simply an awful human being, and quite possibly more evil than Voldemort. Scar and I were working on Herbology homework while we laughed at all the things that could happen to the toad when I spotted Harry walk in.
One look at him and I know his first Occlumency lesson didn't go very well at all. He's paler than I get on full moons and his scar looks fresh on his forehead. Before I get the chance to go speak with him though the twins start selling their newest invention to the common room crowd. Headless hats, a hat that disappears and makes your head disappear as well. Good Merlin what's next I wonder.
I watched as Harry stood up to leave, dodging George as he tried to put a hat on Harry's head as he walked by, before going up the boy's dorm stairs. I follow after Ron, just knowing somehow that I need to talk to Harry. I got to their room where the door was wide open just as Harry opened his eyes as he laid on the floor with Ron bending over him next to him. I catch a whiff of the scent that smells like death before Harry's peppermint smell returns, though the second scent is still there.
"Something good's happened. Something he's been hoping for." (H)
"Hermione told me to come and check on you. She says your defenses will be low at the moment, after Snape's been fiddling around with your mind.....Still I suppose it'll help in the long run, won't it?" (R)
"Ron's right Harry, Hermione too." (K)
"Bloody hell, don't you ever cough or make some noise before you just walk up behind people, or do you enjoy startling people." (R)
"I'm enjoying startling you more often, that's for sure. Harry how are you feeling right now? And the truth or I'll read your mind." (K)
"Like my head's about to explode. Hang on....you can do Legilimancy so you could teach me Occlumency." (H)
"No actually I can't. I'm not very good at Occlumency at all. I can help you practice when you need me to be invading your mind, but teaching you how to block me......well I don't know how. I'm sorry Harry." (K)
"It's ok, practice with you is better than nothing I guess." (H)
"Whenever you need me, I'll be there. Get some sleep, both of you. Night boys." (K)
"Night Kat." (R&H)

Kat's POV:
January came and went so fast I had to double check my calendar to make sure it actually happened. I had told Scar in private about George's.....proposal and we've talked several times about how I feel about it. Honestly I'm still not very sure myself. All I am sure about is that I want the three month internship at the institute for magical beasts this summer. I mailed in my application a few days ago with my four reference letters, and got a note back saying I would hear from the committee in a few month's time.
I didn't tell George that I had applied for it for several reasons. The first being that if I didn't get it I didn't want a lot of people to know. The second being that all he seems to want to talk about these days is the joke shop and how the four of us can easily run it, with the four being the twins, me and Lee. I haven't the heart to tell him that's not what I want to do with my life, even though I want to support him for following through with his dreams. I don't know this whole year is just becoming one big mess.
Hagrid has now joined Trelawney on probation thanks to the beloved old toad and I was informed only yesterday, by the toad herself, that the forest had been deemed too unsafe for me to hunt in any longer. In fact, I am no longer allowed to hunt at all on full moons. She smiled and 'hem, hemed' at me when she delivered that news in person no less. I suppose I should feel honored in some way that she sent it in person and not by owl, or Filch.
I haven't told George that news yet, but I did tell Scar and I've never heard so many profanities come from her as I did. Honestly, I may not tell George at all. He couldn't go with me last week during the full moon thanks to something with the joke shop, and I had already stopped asking him to go with me to Madame Pomfrey's office on half and new moons before the toad stopped those before Christmas. It's almost ironic or funny I guess. We're engaged now and I see less of him now than I when we weren't even dating last year. We didn't even do anything on Valentine's Day and that's basically a couple holiday.
"KATHERINE!" (S)
"What?!?" (K)
"I've been saying your name and waving my hand in front of you for a few minutes now. Were you really that spaced out?" (S)
"Sorry Scar, just been thinking." (K)
"First full moon in a few more days without hunting huh?" (S)
"Oh yeah I guess it is huh?" (K)
"Oh, gotcha you were thinking about you and George again. My offer to kick him in the balls and tell him what a git he is still stands if you want." (S)
"Thanks Scar, give me another full moon or two and I may take you up on that. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't feel forgotten you know." (K)
"I'm sorry Kat. Want me to tell you what just happened to take your mind off, well him?" (S)
"Sure, Scar fire away." (K)
"Ok then, you won't be thinking about George for a few minutes." (S)
"Whatever works at this point Scar, whatever works." (K)
