Kat's POV:
Scar and I were sitting in the great hall near the trio and the twins when the owls starting flying in. I watched as Luna walked dreamily over the Harry and told them that the article was finished. I smiled as an owl with my order of the Quibbler magazine landed in front of me. I paid him before he flew off, thankful that Luna had told Scar and she managed to tell me the other night so I could order one. I read through it and see that's it pretty well written, even with the Skeeta woman writing it. I suspect Hermione played a larger role in that than we could guess.
I was about to say something to Harry when the smell of rotten eggs caught my nose and I spotted the devil walking towards us. Well not the devil, but close enough because Umbridge was standing behind Luna and Fred. Looking as if she was the cat that swallowed the canary, even though none of us have done anything wrong.
"Why have you got all these letters, Mr. Potter?" (Toad)
"Is that a crime now? Getting mail?" (F)
I cough back a laugh along with Scar as Fred says this with a smirk on his face. Though of course the toad wipes it off with the threat of detention, which means lines with the blood quill as we've come to call it. I watch wide-eyed as Harry throws his copy of the Quibbler at her after telling her that he gave an interview. She caught it and the fury that matched her face and her voice was astounding. She took fifty points from Harry, added another week of detention for him, and banned him from going to Hogsmeade before she began to walk off. She was few feet away before I lost control of my mouth and got myself in trouble with the wretched woman.
"You pompous, stupid, old hag!" (K)
I watched as everyone around us and even a few of the Professors at the staff table who had apparently been listening even when they were pretending not to froze and looked at me. Umbridge froze as well before turning to face me slowly with a sick grin plastered on her round face.
"I believe that you shall be joining Mr. Potter for his detention Ms. Harrison. It's about time you learned some manners." (Toad)
I kept my mouth shut tightly as I glared at her as she turned around and walked out of the Great Hall. I saw McGonagall stand up and walk out motioning for me to follow, as she looked at me with her piercing stare. I grabbed my bag before waving goodbye to everyone and followed quickly after her. We walked in silence to the hospital wing and into Madam Pomfrey's office, where McGonagall shut the door and apologized about our intrusion. Madam Pomfrey simple shrugged at us as she continued working at her desk.
"As admirably as that outburst may have been in coming to Potter's defense, that was a very foolish thing to Ms. Harrison. There may not be an official degree preventing you from vamping out yet, but as it may have escaped your notice there is a full moon during one of the detentions you are to serve with Umbridge and Potter." (Mc.)
"I...I'm sorry Professor. I didn't mean to say anything at all it just slipped out I suppose." (K)
"Yes well as Head of Gryffindor House I need to know exactly what we must do so that you don't attack Potter during the full moon. For you and I both know that she will be making him write lines with that medieval quill of hers. Will you be able to control yourself?" (Mc.)
"I can control it Professor. I will be ready, and I will not harm Harry." (K)
"Well we will be ready just in case something goes wrong. Now off to class immediately and Harrison, as your Head of House I ask you to remember to please keep in mind that you aren't just a student here at Hogwarts." (Mc.)
"Yes Professor. Thank you." (K)
"One more thing Harrison, as a bystander I would like to tell you your insults to Umbridge were a bit too nice if you ask me but it was a nice attempt." (Mc.)
The smile that spread against my face was nothing compared to the slight smiles that both McGonagall and Pomfrey had on their faces as I left Madam Pomfrey's office. I hurried out of the hospital wing as quickly as I could before heading to Charms class. I spotted Scar and George both looking for me in the hallway but I waved off their questions for now and walked into class. I can't think about the toad right now, I'll have to think about that later or never.
************************LATER THAT NIGHT**********************
I watched as Gryffindor House finally stood behind Harry, well figuratively at least, as everyone gushed about his interview with The Quibbler. Fred and George even put up an enlarged image of the magazine on the wall, and bewitched it to say "Eat Dung Umbridge" or the "Ministry are morons" every few minutes. Detention with Harry and Umbridge starts tomorrow, with the full moon being the next one after that and I find myself worrying about whether I'll be able to control myself. I guess we'll soon find out.
************DETENTION DURING THE FULL MOON***************
Kat's POV:
Last night's detention wasn't that bad. Umbridge had me sit next to Harry, facing his hand as he wrote his lines. I watched as the cut on his hand reopened and the words 'I must not tell lies' was carved deeper and deeper into his skin. The blood running from the cut was tempting, more tempting than I would care to admit but I held out.
Tonight though, even with the blood McGonagall had snuck to me earlier and the blood pops I ate before coming here, is pure torture. I couldn't help but vamp out and Umbridge smiled in such a way it only made my hate for her grow infinitely more. I could hear Harry's pulse quicken just a bit with each cut that the quill made on his hand. I watched as the blood seemed to tease me as it ran from the cuts down onto the table.
I could feel my lip quiver as I began to crave the blood more and more. I tried to think of something else, but it all just kept coming back to the blood. We had been there for three hours before we heard a large crash outside Umbridge's office. When she got up to investigate, Peeves began to pelt her with dung bombs and balloons filled with water. She came back into her office looking madder than a wet hen, telling us that detention for the night was over and to come back tomorrow.
Harry and I left without a word to her and quickly made our way up to the Gryffindor tower as Peeves kept chunking stuff at Umbridge. I may owe that poltergeist a present before the end of the term. We were a few feet outside the tower before I grabbed Harry's shoulder to stop him. He turned to me in question before I grabbed his hand and licked the cut.
I felt him pull against me for a moment but then stop suddenly. I lick the cut one more time and pull away from it as I watch it heal. I look up at Harry who isn't looking at me anymore but his hand. It's scarred due to Umbridge but for tonight anyway it's sealed over with a thin layer of skin.
"How--" (H)
"Us half-vamps are full of surprises Harry, didn't you know? Now let's get me inside before I take a real bite out of you shall we?" (K)
He nods a bit before smiling in thanks and helping me through the portrait frame. I feel myself collapse onto a chair in the corner, next to Scar, as Harry says goodnight and walks upstairs. Scar passes me a few blood pops, watching me to make sure I'm eating them, but right now it doesn't matter. It won't be enough I already know. My body is a perfect mixture of weakness and anger right now all thanks to the toad's policy on no blood for me. I was surprised after a few moments when George tapped me on the shoulder and asked to come with him upstairs to talk.
