When we arrived at Cross's office, we began to discuss what to do regarding the compulsion of the Night Class,
"We need to kill the sire, your brother. That's the only way to save them."
Cross declared as I looked up at him,
"That's great and all but how will we do that? He's extremely powerful. We can't even get close unless he wants us to!"
I exclaimed as Takuma came over and rested a comforting hand on my shoulder, offering me a reassuring smile as he spoke,
"Don't worry, we'll figure something out."
His eyes were warm as he spoke to me and I felt my anxiety fade slightly at his words. I looked behind him and saw that Zero was standing up,
"I'm gonna watch the Night Class a bit more to make sure they don't do anything stupid."
Zero said stoically, but I could tell he was just as worried as the rest of us. Cross nodded at him,
" Okay, wait until after this. I think I know how to do this without alerting the night class or your brother to what we are doing."Cross said as Zero nodded in confirmation. I turned my attention back to him,
"I'm listening"
I said, leaning forward slightly as he spoke,
"We need to find a way to trap him and destroy him. Since your brother is a vampire he will have a weakness to a dead man's blood. We need to use it against him to get him into a weakened state, but I'm not overly sure how to get it into him without him not only noticing, but stopping us before we can actually do it. After we do this, if we can, then we will have a small window of opportunity to stab him with the blade. That should kill him, but there's no guarantee this will work. He's a pureblood vampire who devoured his twin, which is highly rare in vampire pregnancies. Anything could happen. This might not even work at all, but it's this or nothing.."
Cross explained to Takuma and I. I raised a questioning eyebrow at him,
"So lemme get this straight: we're gonna trap a mental case with the power of two pure bloods, shoot him up with the blood of a dead guy, and stab him with a magical blade that may or may not work?"
I asked as Cross nodded,
"Exactly. This is our only solution."
He said as I sighed and looked back down,
"This is more of a hair brained idea than a plan."
I said, hesitant to go along with this. Cross raised an eyebrow at me,
"Do you have a better one?"
He asked and I stayed silent, knowing this was our only shot. Cross smiled knowingly,
"That's what I thought. Now, you and Takuma go back to the Moon Dorm and act like nothing happened. Remember, whatever they hear and see, Alek knows. Zero just keep a close eye on them. You'll be excused from class until this problem is sorted out. We can't endanger the other students with this."
He said as the three of us left the office. Zero broke off from us to go on patrol, leaving Takuma and I alone. On our way to the Moon Dorm, I turned to Takuma,
"Do you think the guys will be okay?"
I asked hesitantly. He shrugged,
"I hope so."
He said, his voice distant. I looked at him,
"Don't worry, they're gonna be alright. we all are."
I said, attempting to reassure him. He smiled at me as he took my hand and squeezed it,
"I believe you. I just...we've all been friends for a very long time. I consider all of them to be more like my family than my friends. The thought of someone using them makes my blood boil, but I'm more afraid that we're going to have to fight them in the end. I'm worried that Alek is going to use them against us. I...I can't hurt them. They mean the world to me. The thought of having to injure or...or kill them, it hurts so much."
I stopped walking and pulled him into a tight hug,
"I'm scared of that, too. All of you in the Night Class mean the world to me. The thought of having to fight any of you breaks my heart. That's why I want to kill Alek before it ever comes to that. I want to protect all of you in any way I can, even if it means I might not survive it."
I said as Takuma pulled back and stared into my eyes,
"Don't even say that. If they came out of this and found that you had died either because of them or trying to protect them, they'd never forgive themselves. Especially Lord Kaname. You mean so much to all of us in the Night Class. Please, don't be reckless. If they were in their right minds they'd be telling you the exact same thing. We don't want to lose you."
He moved closer to me and I felt his lips ghost over mine. When he spoke I felt his breath fan my lips and I shivered slightly,
"I don't want to lose you."
He spoke softly, his tone hushed as he pressed his lips to mine in a gentle, yet passionate kiss. I moved my hands up to rest on his chest as we kissed, pouring all of our tensions about Alek and the Night Class into each other. His left hand cupped the back of my head while his right held my waist protectively, keeping me against him. It was like he was trying to tell me that no matter what happened he'd protect me from my brother and the Night Class. I felt a single tear slip from my eye at the thought of having to hurt those I care about, but I knew in the end I wouldn't have a choice. Alek would send them to attack us and we would have to fight those closest to us in order to protect them. When Takuma and I parted we stayed still, letting our foreheads rest against each other as we gazed into each other's eyes. It was as if we were having an entire conversation with just our eyes. I could see myself reflected in his emerald green eyes and I smiled slightly at him. He kissed my forehead sweetly and held my hand tightly in his as we made our way back to the Moon Dorm, enjoying a comfortable and peaceful silence between us.
