Chapter nine~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Make a left turn ahead."
"This GPS is terrible, there has to be a faster way to get there," Dante complained from the driver's seat, glaring at the road ahead of us.
I rolled my eyes underneath my sunshades, partially irritated from being sexually frustrated. "Stop whining. Look I think that's the place up ahead on the right."
"Your destination is ahead on the-"
The robotic voice was interrupted by Dante jabbing the 'off' button. He pulled into the small parking lot of the café we were supposed to be meeting an informant at.
I was about to open my door when Dante beat me to it, standing in front of me expectantly. I raised an eyebrow at his sudden gentlemanliness.
"Don't look at me like that. I have manners."
"Obviously not judging by what happened before we left," I muttered to myself as I took off my shades, not intending for him to hear.
"Oh trust me there's plenty more where that came from, princess," he responded with a smirk that I desperately wanted to kiss off of his face.
No.
After getting off of the phone with Mr. Richard (who has terrible timing), I myself had to take a cold shower. Meanwhile, Dante seemed completely unaffected all the while smirking at me every chance he got.
The only thing that could describe the way I felt was weak. How could I have let him go that far? Why would I kiss him back?
Because he's the sexiest man you've ever encountered and obviously you cannot resist him.
I ignored the thought and simply blamed it on hormones.
I slid out of the truck and into the summer heat without a word. By the time we reached the front doors of the café, I'd broken a sweat.
Dante pulled open the door for me and waited for me to walk through. I did so, and immediately spotted the informant sitting in a corner at a booth by himself. He matched the image that Mr. Richard sent shortly after his phone call. With messy blond hair and a muscular build, he appeared to be our age.
I nudged Dante in his side and nodded towards the man. He sized him up silently before stepping in front of me protectively and leading us to the table.
"Mr. Adorno, Ms. Graham?" He greeted us in question as we approached him.
"Nice to meet you," I responded with a smile as I slid into the booth in front of him and shook his outstretched hand. Dante nodded his greeting and sat closely to me.
"Pleasure is all mine," he said with a wink, keeping his gaze on me a little longer than what would be considered platonic. Dante seemed to notice this as well, as his body tensed for a split second and he narrowed his eyes briefly.
"So Mr. Lockett, I'm sure Mr. Richard has already briefed you as to why we're here?" I quickly asked in an attempt to diffuse the slight awkwardness.
"Call me James, sweetheart," he offered with a flirtatious grin before continuing, "Yes, he told me that he wanted us to meet and exchange contact information so that we could communicate directly."
