Title: The Haunting of Charity Delafield
Author: Ian Beck
Brief summary of plot: Charity is forbidden to venture beyond the gates of her mansion in result of her 'condition'. Her mother passed away while giving birth...or did she?
Strengths: Ian Beck creates a very eerie journey- a very good use of imagination.
Weaknesses: The story moves very slowly.
Personal response: A magical and ghostly mystery.
Genre: Fantasy/mystery
Action: The majority of the action, nearly all of it, happens in the boundaries of the mansion.
The author, Ian Beck, made me feel very magical , especially during the climax.
Main characters: Charity, Mr Tompkins and Rose. These characters are not very believable because it is set way back. Maybe this is because I haven't read many historical fiction books.
Writing style: 'The Haunting of Charity Delafield' is written in the 3rd person and I like the idea of the newspaper cuttings.
Overall opinion: Magical, eerie, fascinating and simply a work of art!
